Open relationships never do work, you know. Regardless of the person(s) you're with in the relationship that say they're "okay with it" are most certainly lying. If they love you, and think you're that great of a person and want to keep you, they'll tell you anything in order to do so. In the end, open relationships end up aching hearts and end any sort of trust couples have for each other.

Butterfly has stated several times that she's been married now for 10 years. Sounds like it works for her and her husband.

It's most likely a matter of time before her marriage comes to a breaking point. There's going to be a time and place where everything is going to be uncomfortable, and thereafter the emotion will be the same.

Her marriage has already lasted longer than a large percentage of marriages out there. Hell, it's lasted longer than 99% of Hollywood marriages. Sorry, but I find your argument pretty weak...an open relationship that might fizzle out after 20 years is a huge success STILL in this day and age.

As for the OP, I've never been involved in an open relationship and I'm not sure that I could ever do it...but I'm very open-minded and if the topic came up and I thought I could handle it, I would give it a try.

No way could I ever do it myself Im way to possesive when it comes to my man and would not share well. As for others if it works for them more power to them, what they do behind closed doors is no concern to me as what I do behind my doors should be to them.

I wouldn't mind having an open relationship since its just sex but I also don't see the point... since its just sex. I figure if one is looking for sex rather than making love one should just go out and have sex instead of attaining a partner to make love with.

Some open relationships are about loving and having a full relationship with more than one person at once, not just having sex :) that's the part that gets tricky, because a lot of people feel, rightly or wrongly, that you can't fairly love more than one person at a time.

I just love it when people are so damn close minded

But I think some are just shit stirring the OP

This thread had lots to discuss without the holy rollers telling us how we all should live I guess

The OP started this thread to hear ALL opinions, not just yours. Just because somebody doesn't agree with you, doesn't necessarily mean that they're being close minded;)

You're right, if you say that an open relationship isn't for you but if it works for others, good for them, that's open minded. If you state that someone shouldn't do something/ it's wrong ect that has nothing to do with you or dosen't hurt anyone, that is close minded.

I don't agree with a lot of things and I'm sure you don't either, that doesn't make you close minded that just makes you human. We all have our opinions, some are stronger than others but that's ok, this world would be a mighty boring place if we all thought alike.

That's not the point. It's close minded to believe that since you don't agree with something, it's wrong or immoral and nobody should do it. It's the same with with gay relationships/marriage. It's not anyone's place to judge how other people lead their lives. Pretty simple concept.

First, you're confusing Retro with me... I'm the atheist around here.

And second, you have it backwards. Those who believe in God are the ones who are close minded. Because once you believe in god, a million other possibilities are now closed to your small mind. Whereas those of us who are not tied to a fairytale can believe in anyway we choose, complete and total freedom. :D

Huh. I'm not entirely certain what that has to do with the price of tea in China. Apples and oranges. But it still isn't your place to tell people they're flat out wrong if they don't share your beliefs. Or rather, you don't have the right to impose your beliefs on other people.

....and you don't have the right to impose on mine....got it , get it, goooood!!. According to what you said earlier you should be telling others that if they beleve in God then it's ok and not any of your buisness.....to each their own right?....lol

omg you're really very funny retro. If you say that I'm closed minded then so be it, better that than a hypocrite;)

As a Christian you're displaying a very un-Christian attitude, arn't you? :p

That actually doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I'm stating that it's close minded to impose your personal beliefs on other people. I fail to see why that's so difficult for you to understand.

I'm a very open minded person. I'm a Christian, I believe in God... and yet I don't judge others, I don't tell them that they're wrong for their beliefs. I can disagree with them, but I don't impose my own beliefs or morality on them... because it isn't my place.
