Your situation confuses me. You guys DATE and form relationships with other people but don't have sex with someone else UNLESS your partner is present. Maybe it's just me, but IF I were ever to venture into an open relationship,, I'd much rather it be on a purely physical level than an emotional one. :dunno

We may get physical with the people we date... on our own.
We swing together. 3somes and the like always involve both of us, and whoever else.

I'd like to ask a question too if I may?

Would you knowingly form a relationshipwith /date someone who didnt have this sort of agreement with their S.O?

That is...the person you are dating has a partner who DOESNT know, so in fact they are cheating on them?

Bring on the stones and flames.

I have in the past, yes. We were together for just over 2 years. He did end up leaving his wife, but not for me (I never asked him to). I don't think she ever found out about us.

Given my experience with that relationship, and what I have seen since, I don't think I would ever do it again.

Another question, sorry for being nosy lol. But did that lover, and all your lovers in general know about your husband?

I truly believe that love is not something you can divide into pieces as if handing out slices of cake at a birthday party.

If someone has four children, how then, is it possible to love them equally, given that love is not something you can divide into pieces as if handing out slices of cake?

I met that lover through my husband... they played golf on weekends :24:
I've never even pretended not to be married. I'm very open about what the nature of my relationship is, and about what my expectations of another partner would be.

Jealous of shallow relationships? Not me. Open relationships work in the fantasy world, not in the real one.

Harsh. Just because we don't understand it or can't do it doesn't make it less than our ways.

I'm jealous because it's like the best of both worlds. Lots of sex and dating, but still a marriage. And you didn't have to lie to get there lol. I can see what Butterfly said about having ultimate trust. Never thought of open relationships that way. I don't trust much so there you go lol.

Everyone's relationship works different, different things for different people. It's a personal matter and I dont see that any outsider has a right to dismiss the relationship at insincere simply because it's not what would work for them.

True, however, there are two types of love in this world. The love you have for someone you want to spend the rest of your life with and the love you have for others such as friends, children, and pets. One can be divided because it is a love that is meant to be shared through compassion and understanding. The other type of love is meant to be sacred in the means of the heart and everlasting relationship that makes both into one in a sense. That is just my own opinion though.

lol at loving children like you love your pets.....

Well I hold pets on a leveled scale I suppose. Just because my dog cannot speak to me in a sense does not mean they are any less apart of my life in the means of being treated as an equal. Besides, I treat my dog as an equal because she helps me through the hard times as well as the good timesl. That is the oddity that is me though. My dog is more than a pet. It is family and the only family I have at the moment.

I know what you mean, I consider my pets to be my family, you will never hear me refer to one of them as "it" it's always him or her.

Exactly. I could never imagine my life without my dog in a sense. It is more than a pet. It is my protector when I sleep. My friend when I am alone. My family when the holidays come around. I see a "person" at times. Just one that looks different than I do I suppose. Again, that is just me as usual being unusual.
