When someone says "Thank you"

If someone thanks me for something.... I always say 'you're welcome'.

I absolutely dislike when I say thank you and the person replies.... 'Yep!'

That's where some of my most sincere "you're welcome"s come from since it's such a rarity up here. Having the door held for me is also where my most sincere thank you's come from.

My loudest "your welcomes" and "my pleasures" are to the people who DONT say thankyou...

usually accompanied with a big shit eating, sarcastic grin and a thumbs up.

I hate bad manners.

A little boy held the door for Matt and I both a few weeks back. It just melted my heart. I was so tempted to get his momma's attention and tell her what a wonderful job she was doing. Hindsight being 20/20, I probably should have. I can imagine it makes a mom feel good to hear those things. Either that or I'd have come off as a weird-o.

Funny, but I almost went up to a young couple at the Japanese Steakhouse I ate at to tell them how impressed I was w/ how well-mannered their children were (SIX CHILDREN, MIND YOU!!!). I ended up not going over to them b/c I figured I would look like a weirdo, LOL

I love it when people, strangers come up and tell me how well behaved my daughter is. It means that they were so impressed with Mia that they stepped out of their personal boundaries and took the leap of faith to let me know that she is an incredible little being. It has nothing to do with me, Mia is an old, old soul and a well traveled tot.

They might not say that tonight, however. Mia ate a whole chicken burrito, two fish tacos, rice and beans at a mexican restaraunt tonight and then came home and had an apple and then a piece of toast with nutella on it. There is one collosal fart bog hanging over the house and the dog refuses to sleep with her. BUT..when she was awake and farted she always said "scuse me."

My little Asian tot is nothing but polite. :D

The point is...it never disturbs me that somebody comes up and compliments me on my child's behavior. As a single mother, it is pennies from Heaven. I always second guess myself when it comes to me being a good mother but I shouldn't when I have such a patient and understanding daughter. :)

Never feel you are being creepy when you compliment people on their well behaved children. You have no idea how wonderful your words can make them feel. :D

:homo: It's nice to get reassurances, especially when they come from strangers, as those tend to be genuine.

I'm with both the Homo's:nod:

I get a bad case of smilers cramp when someone brings up my sons politeness.:thumbup

like this:D

and vice versa...I always commend a child and/or the parents on good manners and politeness.

Depends on what they are thanking me for.

"Sure."
"No need."
"No worries."
"Mmm-hmm/Yu'huh." (I use this at work a lot, if its something I did that should of been done by someone else who didn't do it already, or forgot)
"You're welcome."
"De nada."
"No problem, I got your back." (At work for my closer co-workers)
