Some people don't like it...but you might have just had some tofu prepared by someone who doesn't know how to prepare it, LOL And I should add that tofu has no taste...it takes on the flavor of whatever you cook it with.
well i prepared it so you're probably right :24::p

Yeah, if you had never handled tofu before you probably A) didn't buy the right firmness of tofu for what you were trying to do and B) didn't prepare it right, LOL

I juz wanna share this from the Southbeach newsletter. It's amazing what one learns everyday

I cannot in good conscience answer this question without a reminder to control your intake of potentially inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids, which are found mainly in grains and grain-fed beef and poultry, and in oils such as corn, safflower, and sesame. Though a healthy diet definitely includes some omega-6’s, the typical North American diet contains about eight times too many! This is certainly one of the reasons why heart disease and so many other inflammatory disorders are prevalent in this country

Yeah, but I wanna say the recipe says it's like 4 servings or something and we get at least double that out of it. I use tons of lettuce w/ it, though.

Ya the lettuce makes it look like you're getting more lol

You guys are right about lettuce :thumbup Have you guys ever compared iceberg vs romaine lettuce? Per USDA, substitute the regular iceberg everyone's used to, to Romaine as it's healthier. Here's the info :

One cup of iceberg lettuce:
8 calories
0.5 gram protein
0.7 gram fiber
10 mg calcium
78 mg potassium
1.5 mg vitamin C
16 mcg folate
13.3 mcg of vitamin K
164 mcg beta carotene
152 mcg of lutein + zeaxanthin

One cup of romaine lettuce has:
8 calories
0.58 gram protein
1 gram fiber
16 mg calcium
116 mg potassium
11.3 mg vitamin C
64 mcg folate
48.2 mcg vitamin K
1637 mcg beta carotene
1087 mcg of lutein + zeaxanthin.

The Romaine lettuce is a better choice.

Interesting to say the least. I'm going to read the full article later, though.

I always use Romaine. I prefer it over most of the other lettuces that are out there. Plus I can get like 6 heads of Romaine for $4 or so at Sams. We buy a pack every month and always use it all, LOL

Keep it UP ^ :thumbup Besides that's it's cheaper most of the time. It tastes better too and lasts longer than iceberg, imo

I get bagged store brand romaine lettuce mix, I think I'm going to switch to just romaine hearts and stop wasting money on shredded carrots and purple cabbage :p

Nah you're not wasting your money on carrots and purple cabbage. They're healthy too. That bag that you use is actually a good mix. It's just that when it's solo iceberg vs Romaine then the latter should be the way to go ;)

I might price it out per ounce, just to see. I quite like the carrots and cabbage, but I figure it might be costing me more lol

Just had my egg crust pizza for breakfast haha!

I take one egg, and thin it with water, then put it in a small saute pan like an omlette until it's really cooked through and browned. Then take the egg "crust" and I top it with spices, low sugar pizza sauce, low fat cheese and turkey pepperoni. Any toppings, really. I have zapped it in the microwave but it is best baked in a toaster oven to melt the cheese and brown.

When I eat it the next day I sit it on paper towels to draw the moisture from the egg so it's more crust-like.
I love this!!

This isn't a recipe, but I thought I'd recommend the Fiber One 80 calorie cereal. I'm a cereal-holic, so this makes me giddy, because I never could find a place for it in my diet :(

Relatively low in sugar, super low calories, not bad on carbs for a cereal, great fiber content...all in all, for a boxed cereal snack...not bad. I eat it with unsweetened soy milk, which adds the protein.

Tastes super good, but the texture is a little rough.
Yay! lol

I would love to make some of this too :thumbup

I am juz curious tho if you make your egg crusts daily. It must be tedious. Juz wanna share as I just learned this from a dietitian sometime ago that egg can only last 2 hours stored after it's cooked as it can harbor lots of bacteria easily. Hence at the hospital, eggs are the first ones we trash out due to this info :willy_nilly:

Something to substitute my Kashi cereal

I will compare the nutritional facts. I had been stuck with Kashi and it's getting boring now.

I don't eat these often, honestly, they are tedious! When I do, it's usually on a weekend because I prefer them hot.

Thanks for the info. I don't much like eggs, so I don't usually pack them in my lunch box. I make my food for the next day at night, let it all cool, pack it and shove it in the fridge hehe.

I love the Kashi cereals, too. Who am I kidding, I would eat any cereal. :24:

*because truthfully, a low carb tortilla works so much better for a healthy pizza than the egg crust, but sometimes I like the thickness of an egg style crust, or I make a flat out pizza omelette and skip the baking :D

I've always been using tortilla hence it''s a good idea for an egg crust to get out of that routinary, boring taste. I mean clever substitutions like you do to make eating healthy much more exciting :D

There's so much good information out there, I really admire the 3 Fat Chicks website for recipes and substitutions.

There's a healthy option for pretty much anything I'd ever want to eat! (Except mac n cheese :24:)

Have y'all tried using the whole wheat or multi grain pitas for pizza crust??? I love them. I brush them w/ olive oil and sprinkle some basil and garlic powder on the crust. Also, I haven't tried it but there's a recipe out there for a pizza crust made out of cauliflower.
