I was the attending nighwatch person the night she was born. She's my baby.
I have a picture with her when she was a few days old. I should see if I can dig it up.

So apparently some guy won a contest to place a $100,000 bet in the Derby. He bet on Super Saver and won around $900,000. :eek

There's my little champion! Isn't she a cutie? This was taken in 2001 when Ashado was a newborn. Who knew she'd grow up to be the remarkable racehorse that she was. Champion 3 year old filly in 2004, champion older filly in 2005 and later sold at auction as a broodmare prospect for a then-record $9 million. She is my claim to fame.

Kentucky Derby is flat racing, Steeples (jumps) are in England.
The Derby is a flat race. Steeplechase isn't very big in North America. I've always wanted to go to the Melbourne Cup too!
