I find this strange, pros shoot in jpg. Yet mere mortals like us shoot RAW :/

To be honest I have been shoot in .jpg for the last two days, and found that it is faster, yet not impossible with the exception of a few items like camera profile and others, to edit with RAW editors
Of course it's faster. The file size is considerably less in most cases. With that you also get a lesser quality shot. Don't believe me... test it for yourself. Set your camera up on a tripod and take a shot in jpg with lots of colour and detail. Then take the same exact shot in RAW. Tell me what you difference you see when you look at 'em on your calibrated monitor. :D

I actually use Corel PSP X3 more than anything else. :thumbup

Ever since JASC went Corel, I disliked it, that is why I opted for PSE first, then this year went to CS5 design suite (purely on the basis I could get it for less than the price of even photoshop itself :24: NB: I am still a student :24:)

I've been using PSP since the dark ages and am so familiar with it. I suppose that's the main reason I still use it more than any other... which btw I have many of. I'm a sucker for new photo software. Some are hits and some are misses but at least I'm keeping the economy moving.

I think the earliest one I used was version 5. I am so used to it hence could never go for anything else really :p

I'm still on X2 though - not bothered with X3.

Interesting reading and quite readable for advanced/novices alike. I'll bear some of those tips in mind next time I find myself shooting fireworks.

That was one of the ones I read before I headed out to give it a whirl. There's a lot of good advice there except for the recommended shutter speed of 1 - 3 seconds. I went down to 1/2 second and I think that was still a tad to slow.
