Twas the talk of the office today. A young lady from South Africa won the Womens 800m in the World Championships in Germany....however now sex tests are going to take place to establish the sex of the protagonist.

I understand that, if a man undergoes a sex change, then he is still considered a man in terms of these events.

So what's other peoples "take" on this athlete and the story

If she was born a man, she's a man. Sex change hormones and "bob" do not change the adavantage her DNA gave her at birth. She shouldn't be competing against women.

Does anyone remember the same suspicions about Czech athlete (and STILL holder of many records) from the 80s Jarmilla Kratochvilova?

Of for gosh sakes! "She" looks like a man! :ninja I wouldn't doubt there would be some questions. I guess since you said she still holds records, they either didn't test her or "she" passed, but dude! That is one manly looking female. If she was a weight lifter, ok, I could see her arms looking like that, but a runner? Nope, women don't "muscle up" like that!

Strangely Kratochvilova looks far more feminine now

Because they are faster and stronger. It's not a level playing field. Doing that would eliminate women from competitive sports.

really though? I am sure there are SOME things we do better. We aren't faster than them?

Guys - when you run - how does your penis and balls not slow you down?

I would think we would have the advantage there...

usually they are kept in the forward/center position by a cup

even when you run?

i didn't know that

I know this is slightly perverse and a little off topic, but I always wonder what you guys do with those things. My first real boyfriend was amused when I asked him to do certain things naked so I could see where it all went...

yeah I can't believe I am admitting that...

No, we do not run faster than them.

Compare womens' records: Track & Field News: Records

to mens': Track & Field News: Records

We have no athletic advantages over men. They are more muscular in the right way so as to be faster, jump higher and so forth.

like i said i am sure there are some athletic things we are better at....

tennis? swimming? gymnastics?

Nope, nothing athletic. Individual women may be better than some invidual men, but as a group, men are more athletic.

Compare swimming. Swimming Women World Records

Women cannot play better tennis, men serve faster and stronger. Gymnastics, the events do not have parity.
