Loads and loads of Brazilian Portuguese books. My Mum wanted us to speak Portuguese, so almost all of our books were in Portuguese. I think I had one or two in Polish from my Dad. Can't remember a single title. They were all faaaaaaaascinating.

I read waaaaay too many books when I was little to pick any. I would take books in the car when we went to the library. I'm excited that I'll get to share them all with Dominic.

I found them in fourth or fifth grade and read every one of them.

I think that's when I found them too.. Every time we went to the city I would ask to go to a book store to buy another one.. two or a dozen.. Mom loved that I was getting into reading so she didn't mind :)

Dates me a bit, but "Little House on the Prarie" were popular. Aside from that, well except for my parents reading Dr. Suess to me, I didn't really get into a "series" of books. I just read.

I can't go into bookstores. I want to buy them all. Dominic seems to like books as much as us so were going to be in big trouble.

I loved "Little House on the Prairie." I actually re-read that one again a few months ago and it was still enjoyable.

I go into a books store.. and if I don't keep myself in check .. I can spend a fortune... (and have)

What I have been doing lately is buy gift cards and only spending what's on the cards.. I love books.. and ever since I found out I was pregnant with Liam having been picking up kids books...

We haven't had the money to go buy any so we've been going to the library a lot lately. Donnie's pissed because I'll finish a 400 page in two days when he's still got half of his left. I got luck with the kids book. Several teachers I know cleaned out their book collections and gave them to me. So I have books from preschool on up.

When I was very young I loved anything by Shel Silverstein. The Giving Tree is still one of my all time favorites and still brings a tear to my eye as does the Missing Piece. I've made sure my niece and nephew have copies in addition to Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, and Falling Up. My dad was a reading specialist and my mother practically ate books she went through them so fast (she was a business english teacher) so I was reading by the age of three and went through a sort of rebellious "I don't want to read I want to play ball" phase by the time I was about 6. I got back into reading heavily though when I was a teenager...but childhood books...those ones stand out the most.

That's a great way to go! You save money AND you don't clutter up a room with tons and tons of books!

See, I want a library in my house where I can go and pick up just about any book I'd every want to read. I've had to get rid of a lot of mine and I miss them all.

Right now my home office has one wall that is nothing but books. There are a lot I haven't read and it is nice to have the luxury of choice in my own home. However, I sometimes miss the library. That sounds incredibly lame, but I do! If you'd like to build up your collection, check out the library book sales. You can pick up books for around a quarter a piece! Also, the Cancer Society (if there is a chapter in your town) will host book sales...again, you can pick up books sometimes for a buck or a quarter and you're helping out a charity...barring that, do you have a Half Priced Books? That's how I accumulated mine...that and my mom...again, you can find some really good books way below half price...some of the classic paperbacks they have at 1/2 price put them at a dollar or below; especially children's books!!

Aww I used to be like Donnie.. It would take me at least a week to read a 400page book.. now it's two days if I can swing the time.. I love reading but with Liam around I find I end up reading the same page a couple times.. :surrender

That is awesome that you have that contact! That's great!

We go to the library sales and they used to have a great discount book here but they sadly went out of business. I do need to go check out the store for the local women's shelter though. Thanks for the reminder!

Donnie reads quickly but not as often as me. I can't read around Dominic any more. He steals my bookmark and then tries to close the book. I've lost my place far too many times to count. It's great to be friends with teachers. You get all kinds of stuff from them.
