Smoking Around Kids

What are your thoughts on this?

Personally, I wont smoke in ther house around kids but I'm asking this after what happened on Saturday. I was at a BBQ at a friends house and I got some weed off someone. I rolled up in private and went in the garden. There were kids in two corners, I'm not going to smoke right next to them so I smoked it in the middle of the garden. Later on I heard someone slagging me off about it because of kids being around. When I sat with him though he didn't say a word. I didn't want a bad atmosphere so I approached him privately about it. Apparently he wouldn't have been happy, even if it had been just tobbacco. We were fine after that though and I smoked in the yard though I wish people would approach me if they have a problem. What are your thoughts on this?
 
I'm not sure what his problem was? Was it the fact you were smoking, or smoking WEED.
Was anyone else smoking (not weed) at the party?


Were the kids old enough to tell "that" smell, and that was his problem?

Dunno Pete... I personally wouldnt have had a problem, unless I had rellos there that were anti pot, coz theres no disguising that smell.

He was smoking weed too, later, but out in the yard.

Nah, he didn't like me smoking anything in the same garden as kids, he had no problem when we smoked it in the yard.

I is confused.....they're both outdoors.

So, his problem was that you were around the kids, even though you were outside?

Well, he should have approached you when you first lit up and told you to move to the friggin yard

The yard was around the side, seperated by a 6 foot fence.

I agree though about approaching me, I didn't agree with him but it was no skin off my teeth moving round the corner for a smoke if that's how he felt, used to it with pubs here anyway, just wish he would have said so, could have been an atmosphere all afternoon for no reason.

My garden surrounds my yard, they are really one and the same. So, were you standing in the middle of his prize rose bushes or something?
 
It is here, but in Canberra and South Australia, you're allowed to have (I think) 3 plants for "personal" use.

It varies state to state
 
I dunno, I grew up from the age of 12 until I graduated with a smoker in the home and they smoked where they wanted so for me it was the norm. Now you can't smoke in cars with children in them. They tried to get it so any household with children itd be illegal to smoke in the home but it didn't fly.
 
As long as it's illegal, I don't think it's ok to smoke pot around kids. I guess I'm a prude. If it were legal, I wouldn't have a problem.

As far as cigs outside? They are legal and as long as you aren't blowing smoke in their faces, no problem there either.

Alcohol is more damaging to do around kids but is legal, no one had a problem with me drinking around them.
