No. Churches should be burned down. They're filled with greedy bastards that want your money and self-delude millions of people across the world.
We don't advocate crime here...and your statement is ignorant. You're a grown man, if you don't want to go to church don't go.

Not all church-goers are the same, by the way...and assuming so is just as bad as whatever you think they are guilty of. I go to church occasionally, but not regularly.

I don't. I did when I was younger, and like to think I'll take my children, but I, personally, cannot believe in something that I cannot see. I like to think there is something out there though. I don't know. I hate the idea of being subservient to something I can't see or even be sure is real. Why live by rules made by a nonexistant?

Didn't I just say that? I don't attend church.

All people that attend church are the exact same...uptight and foolish. They hang by their bible all the time, because they think a fictional book written many years ago speak the truth. Pathetic.

I must've gotten my signals crossed. My thesaurus doesn't show "Churches should be burned down" as equaling "If you don't want to go to church, don't go."

Your belief that all churchgoers are uptight, foolish, and cling to their bible at all times is pretty comical, though. Is that just people that attend on a regular basis or does this include even the holiday Christians who only go on Christmas and Easter???

Hi, I take personal offense to that comment. If you ask anyone who has been around here for a while they will tell you that I am NOT judgemental and don't wave my bible around everywhere or call people out for stuff they say on the internet. Thanks for thinking I'm pathetic because of what I believe in. I could say that I think you are pathetic for NOT believing the same thing as me, because that's essentially what you just did, but that's pretty narrow-minded and not me. So have a nice day:)

Church damn near destroyed my family. If it works for you, good. It just does not work for me.

Care to divulge some details?

I went to church when I was young primarily for the reason that 99.5% of kids do- their parents go and want to indoctrinate the kids towards "the light", "the right path", whatever. When our son was small we went to a local Lutheran Church (as a kind of hedging my bets exercise ;)) and to expose our son to a religious environment, like we introduced him to baseball, music, etc. I'm sorry, but I just don't feel anything special in church other than a social setting where it's a group exercise to "believe" and worship, and they are constantly asking you for more money. At the church we went to, there was a constant drive for money as the church expanded their worship building 3 times in a matter of 10 years. Anyone who has read my posts know I'm a spiritual person, I strongly believe in a spiritual life after physical death, but what exactly that entails is an unknown. And no, I don't consider that to be a fact, just a probability. Just don't ask me to prove it. ;)

I go to a Baptist church every Sunday:) Its not a traditional Baptist church (in fact we are changing our name soon), Basically I'd call it a God lovin, people lovin, praise and worship church for Christ followers......very modern with lots of media and outreach. . Our pastor is an "awesome" teacher.......he hates that word, but its true.

I am a staunch Athiest but I have enough respect for others that if they invite me to a ceremony involving church attendance (ie. wedding, funeral, baptism) I will attend. But when it comes to praying I will not bow my head or close my eyes or recite verses. I don't know any verses! :D

People should push that type of shit on anyone anyways. I don't pray either and if I was told to bow my head and I didn't want to I wouldn't.

Well, my point wasn't that somebody told me to bow and pray. If somebody cornered me into that situation I would just walk out. fortunately nobody I know that is religious has ever remotely come close to imsisting.

My point is when my neice was born Roman Catholic my sister asked me to be the godfather. I went to the church and did the recital but it meant nothing to me. Just more mumbo-jumbo. Now, when my dad died I went to the Catholic church for him, not for god or anybody else's convenience. It was a personal moment, just my dad and I. Religion never entered into the equation.

I was raised catholic... and forced to attent church on Sunday morning in good ol' mexican fashion :D

What im going to say may offend some of you but im being as honest as i can be here)
I feel like hotty and spaz hit it right on the nose... for one I cant find myself believing in a book that was written so long ago, to me the bible is nothing more than a big ass paperback. the fact that some people guide their life based on the writings in a book just doesn't make sense to me.

On the other hand, I cant let go that part of me that was encrusted in my youth.. there is some belief in me so i guess its more of a confusion on faith than anything else.. in a way i have some faith but im having trouble figuring it out.

FW can tell you that at the start of out relationship, I was extremetly against religion... and while some of those beliefs have changed i am still trying to figure out which way to go. This especially haas been on me especially after recent events.

there is too much hyprocrocy in religion for me to follw any of them. i simply have none. i dont care, when i die im sure i will find out but until then i will live my life by My standards and not some radical hypocritical churchs.

also going to throw a quote from HP Lovecraft that made me chuckle the first time i read it because of its bitter truth.

"Bunch together a group of people deliberately chosen for strong religious feelings, and you have a practical guarantee of dark morbidities expressed in crime, perversion, and insanity"
