My immediate family and I used to attend our Parrish regularly and I don't know 100% of what happened by we stopped going for some reasons along the lines of having to donate too much money to the Church and we just didn't have that amount of money to be giving away left and right to the Church. Something like that!

Many church's are ALL ABOUT MONEY. If you got it and like how they spend it, no problem. :D

Giving money to your church should feel good when you do it.........its an honor to be able to give. I've always been a traditional 10% tither and that works out fine for me........I give a bit more when I have it and that always feels good! My church is very careful about how it spends money given. They think about what they are spending every penny on. I think thats important.

I wish I could take you to my church. You wouldn't feel like its boring at all. My pastor likes to call it a "Christ-following church". ( This church is rapidly growing and our church uses all of the media and arts to their fullest extent/ rock music some mornings, skits, videos, etc.) It seems to bring worship to a whole other level. Nothing like the old days when there were hard wooden pews and you sang along with the choir in their robes and then a long boring sermon. I don't just go for the sake of going, I go to learn more about Jesus & worship him, partially because my church makes it easy. :)

And for this you pay 10%? There is no way in hell a church is going to get 10% of my earnings, not for something they should be doing because it's the right thing.
There are way too many mega churches that are rolling in the doe.... it should be a crime the way some of these churches feed off peoples emotions and trick them into giving what they don't have all with the promise that god will reward them 10 fold... It's extortion at the least.

no one is tricking me..........I want to give to support my church. 10% is a standard amount that a lot of people donate. Some give more some less. And its not extortion. And I do not expect anything in return as you mentioned the 10fold, thats not what its about at all.

It is sad that some megachurches have given church a bad name, but like anything there's good and bad..

Tim....do you donate money to any non-profit organization. (salvation army or cancer fund, etc.)
I'm just curious if you feel so strongly just about giving money to church or is it to any one?

I went to Church all the time when I was younger brought up a Catholic by my father, though my mum is not religious at all.

I do feel like there's someone up there that likes me but if I got back into Church I could not go back to where my dad goes - I'm sorry to say but it is mind numbing! And a lot of the things they say do not wash well with me on a moral level.
