Medically speaking, contagious diseases will not kill you very quickly. The reason for this, is that they need time to spread. The longer you are alive with a contagious disease, the more chance of that disease spreading. A disease that kills too quickly will die out, because it does not have time to spread.

This is why zombies would not work. They would be too effective.

In order to become a zombie, the general agreement is that you must be bitten by a zombie, but not eaten. But zombies want to eat you. So, unless the first zombie was very, very bad at fully eating people, the zombie-disease would never spread, because the people would just die. It is just too effective.

On the other hand, zombies could just be very, very bad at fully eating people, and that is why they are so slow and lumbering. Man, they are just hungry.

Zombies are actually ineffective at just about everything, so when they go to bite, you are able to pull away. This allows you to live long enough for the virus to turn you into a zombie.

It may also be about population, in the beginning there are too many people & the confused zombie grabs at everything it sees, allowing it's last victim to escape & zombify.

Beacuse of your disbelief in the inevitable uprising of the Zombie Nation...you will be among the first to fall.

you whole point is null and void, because of the simple fact that zombies aren't real(that we know of, yet.) That being said, I think it may be time to put the pipe down. (never thought i'd say that)

Well, isn't it possible that when someone is infected with the zombie virus, and they become a zombie, they just bite someone, then that person escapes and later becomes a zombie?

Nevertheless, Zombies > Pirates.
