Just because its pronounced zed for the letter it doesn't change the z sound it makes.
We don't sound out zoo "zee-oo" so why is it so hard to understand that they don't say "zed-oo"..?!

there are times i say Zee and other times zed

picking up from different kids shows on TV when i had my son and he was watching this shows

some were American shows so end up using both..
now i used to that way :D

it's Zed in French. and since I learned French before English, I used to say Zed.

I now say Zee believing that's the only possible way to say it, but thanks to this thread I'm going back to Zed, it's prettier.

Italian's say 'Zeta' if I remember right, a pronunciation of the letter that almost never appears in the language.
But I say Zed, with similar consequences.

The reason for this is, I think, is that throughout history, different languages disposed and picked up the letter as they say fit.
