a team of players you can remember, every team has had great players

coventry city

goalkeeper

i've got a few great to choose from so its difficult.ogrizivic, hedman, blyth, glazier and westwood spring to mind...so i'll go for the one that made the single best display in a game, which is either blyth v liverpool or oggy v sheff weds...i've gone for blyth on this because liverpool were at the peak of their powers

full backs

we've had a few to choose from, one picks himself in stuart pearce, but for the other i think i have to go with a young player whos career was finished by injury...graham oakey

central defence

again a few to choose from...but i'll go for jim holton and trevor peake

the midfield 4

where do i start?..i have to go to tommy hutchison on the right,he was a genius,in the holding role has to be terry yorath...on the left i'm going for john salako with mustafa hadji in the middle

up front.....heres where its a problem, regis, dublin, hunt, huckerby, whelan, wallace and ferguson all spring to mind, but i'm going with hateley and micky quinn.....laugh if you like about quinn but he was deadly in the 6 yard box

Manchester United

GK - Peter Schmeichel : Won us trophies back in the day, great keeper.
RB - Gary Neville : Not the most popular player amongst opposition fans but over the years he proved a great defender for us, very rarely put a foot wrong.
CB - Nemanja Vidic : Been here 5 years and proven to be one of the better signings. A rock at the back, kept us many clean sheets and you notice when he isn't there.
CB - Steve Bruce : Very much like Vidic in the sense he wasn't scared of getting hurt. Had a very good defensive record of his own and even took penalties at one point.
LB - Denis Irwin : Mr Dependable, many great years of service and was always defensively solid
RM - David Beckham : It was close here with him and Ronaldo but I think Becks did it over a longer number of years. Always came across as a great pro and a fabulous crosser of the football.
CM - Roy Keane - A warrior back in the day, yeah he had a dirty side but was always at the top of his game. Bargain buy too.
CM - Paul Scholes - Wasn't one for the spotlight, just got on with it, and what a player. Scored goals galore, had a great eye for a pass. Yeah he couldn't tackle but nobody''s perfect. The greatest English midfielder of his generation.
LM - Ryan Giggs : Still going today, hasn't got the pace of yesteryear but that's to be expected. A fantastic pro, always provided great service, all in all a great.
ST - Ruud Van Nistelrooy : His goalscoring record speaks for itself. Always had an eye for a goal and with those goals, won us trophies.
ST : Wayne Rooney : Like Keane, a warrior, always wears his heart on his sleeve and scores many important goals.

pity he wasn't english because at his peak he'd have been the missing link on the left for england
