The universe, given time, dies and become's "born again". Kicker is, happens so many times, that there is a good probability that you're born again, leading the exact same life, and this is what happens when you have a "deja vu" moment.
Perhaps death isn't as long as we think it is given the time frame of the universe? A billion years can go by pretty quick when you're six feet under LOL
I'd love to say I have thought about it but I have not.Dark, I thought I'd seen you say you were a Christian, do you consider god and the supernatural two different possibilities?
A lot of people would say god is supernatural.
How does this work with your Christianity?
These responses are why I asked...usually with religion and lackthereof it seems pretty cut and dry what the parameters of one's thoughts could be, so it's interesting to see variation.
Honestly, I don't have all the answers.
What I do know is that some of the most remarkable men I've met teaching the bible tell you that God gave you a brain, and it's not a sin to use it (your brain) if you have question.
Some of the most God touching moments I've ever had in my life was on multi day river trips in canyons that many people never get to see, NOT in a church.
I'd like to think I'm open minded enough not to crucify other's for not believing everything I believe, and can accept the fact that no one will ever think exactly like myself.
its quite a debate in our circle. one that has caused hours and hours of debate and it was supposed to be a dead subject (HAH! get it)I'd say so, as much as I'd say a dog is still a dog when it's dead, and mastodon bones are a mastodon.
Why, that question get you in trouble before??![]()
I mean how do you match your born again universe theory with christianity? You, personally, in your head?
It's not a call to contradiction or scrutiny, just interested in the details.
Problem is, 100 billion years from now, we won't be around LOL As humans, our understanding of time is very limited IMO.
Presuming the universe is still around in 100 billion years of course. They say it's only 18 billion years old now.

Time is what has always fascinated me in cosmological terms. Especially in regards to our placement in it. Space is one thing, and the universe is undeniabley vast, but what you don't get an explicit sense of from the pictures of the farthest reaches of the universe is that of time (the implicit understanding of time is there. For example, if you look at the sun, you are only seeing what the sun looked like 8 minutes ago).
There is the popular analogy, that I can't quite remember fully; that if you take an average roll of toilet paper and mark the first sheet as the beginning of Earth, and then mark off each sheet as a million year period, by the time you get to the age where dinosaurs appear, there'll be nothing left to wipe your arse with.![]()

They say that the Sun is going to fry up the earth when it evolves into a larger star. So our doomsday is sure to come. I don't remember how far in the future it is though.
