How about we not kill off anymore brain cells, shall we?

What are your biggest questions, theoretical concerns, or even main beliefs regarding the supernatural, the meaning of life, and where we go when we die?

Interesting to hear some theories instead of the same old shit over and over. :thumbup

I suppose I just enjoy the mystery of it all. I realize that I'll never know in this lifetime what it all means and what the truth really is and I'm good with that. It kinda falls into the 'I can't change it so why worry about it' category.

I agree, and I like the idea of not being punished for not knowing. I suppose even how I grew up there was an eternal punishment for not making a choice. The ability to be open and admittedly confused is really liberating, in my opinion!

Space baffles me. I can't even begin to think about it. The meaning of life is what YOU as a individual makes of it. I think sometime to myself that I am to cookie cutter. Wife, kids, house and money. I never really did anything "different".

It does seem the meaning of life is to make life meaningful!
Well, I think those things are something to be proud of, even if many people get them.

Serious questions there..

I don't know. But I like to fantasize. When we die for example, we are reincarnated into a being of our choice, based on good or bad events from past lives..

In other words... If you were an evil, heartless, bastard, your choices are limited to say a cockroach... and if you were an all around saint, you could take your pick of lives and beings.
This in my mind, justifies all the people born into wealth, as well as those born deformed or into poverty.

The truth is most likely when we die it's just blackness. lols

Lol I like it. It would be cool if there were some kind of cosmic justice, but I agree with your last sentence lol.

OK...question on being born into wealth as some sort of a reward....what if the wealthy person is a squandering, cheap, bastard that hoards his good fortune only to create more individuals born into poverty. Do roles get reversed in the next life? Doesn't that just make it a never-ending cycle?

Hmmmmmm....maybe it is....maybe live poor - die - come back rich but don't appreciate it, so punished again and come back poor. Maybe we keep coming back until we realize we should do good and show appreciation for what we have....but you can be poor and be happier than the wealtiest person in the world.....damn, I'm confusing myself...carry on....

This is something that I was thinking about recently ...

When we die, do we loose all consciousness ... all memory? Is there anything remotely close to the phenomenon that is what we are used to in life? We have no memory before our births but instead only remember certain things as far back as we can in our lives. With that, does this mean that with death we will loose all that we have learned in a life span or do we take what we have learned into a new plane ... the next step of existence?

If you look at a face of someone you have known, who has died, you will notice that they simply do not look like the person that you had known. They look different ... like something is missing. That life force that makes the Human who they are is simply gone, leaving only an empty shell which once contained something much more than an advanced mammal with the capability of critical thought and memory. This is even true of animals. A dog that you have had for years will just look ... different when they have passed.

One of the biggest things that I think is so important with us Humans is Empathy. The ability to "feel" what someone else is feeling and taking that into consideration. This is something more than just a learned trait that can be taught by example or lecture. This is something that we are endowed with ... something that is engraved into our cores. At the same time, this is something that can be witnessed with pets. Dogs and cats seem to show signs of empathy when we are feeling low or sad ... who is there to lick your face ... whine at you and give you a look of actual concern?

Something that I remember seeing in a documentary a while back was a theory that suggested that all emotions are branched off of two main emotions, love and fear ... and I believe that it is these two baselines that make up this universe.

You have to ask yourself is there a purpose for this life or are we here by happenstance, the processes of nature? Even if the universe as we know it is the product of an intelligent being possessing greater power than we can imagine, we could be a complete side product of a "sandbox" universe, a lofty being who has no direct concern for the existence or long term prospects of homo sapiens on Earth. To clarify, for me, it's not a matter of concern, more of a curiosity.

For many years I've leaned towards the probability that if we have a purpose in our lives, it is to advance ourselves and our society by becoming better entities. Even though I don't admit to "belief" in the hereafter, regarding spirituality I am really, really hoping for some kind of continued consciousness after physical death although there is absolutely no proof. I have feelings that flirt on the edge of my consciousness of big wheels turning behind the screen that play a part in our lives, which constitutes more than just random chance. And I'm the first to admit that this could all be the product of a wishful human brain. :)

I recently finished up a Sylvia Browne book and posted a thread in this forum. The one thing she said that resonated with me was my speculation of and for a purpose in this life. But some of her other statements raised more questions, than answers.

I'd say that pretty accurately reflects how humans survive...they desire/seek some things, and fear/avoid others.

I am still trying to figure out some of the things I remember from being dead and jump started numerous times in July of 2007. Weird memories of animals and very few people and doing some very out of this world traveling. Maybe it came from being shocked 15 times over an 11 day period. The faces of one or 2 of those shocking me are still with me as well as one nurse I talked with at Cleveland clinic when I though I was on an airplane. I do believe our soul has an afterlife even when the body is physically gone.

I say I don't believe in the supernatural mainly cause I don't want to.
My mind is scary enough as is.
When watching horror movies (I love) supernatural movies scare me but anything that is real like a man with a knife and etc..
doesn't scare me one bit.
I like to believe that there is a spirit world of some sort like the after you die place.
I would fear that If I were to believe in ghosts or haunting that I would actually bring them to life out of belief.
Watch the movie Skeleton Key and you'll under stand what I mean.

I do believe that we all possess (I wouldn't call them supernatural powers) extra sensory capabilities that are untapped. Like when I person is blind their other senses heighten to that beyond our understanding. Autism is an excellent example, they posses mental capacities way beyond our understanding I think it is a gift. I have been able since before kinder garden draw complex art without learning it. Yet my social skills suck. Some people have social skill so adept they can get along with anyone and persuade people to do things for them but yet cannot screw in a light bulb without help.

The universe, given time, dies and become's "born again". Kicker is, happens so many times, that there is a good probability that you're born again, leading the exact same life, and this is what happens when you have a "deja vu" moment.

Perhaps death isn't as long as we think it is given the time frame of the universe? A billion years can go by pretty quick when you're six feet under LOL
