Haha, I love that pic with the graph about scientific advancement, that's so true lmao.

And I will agree that atheism is the absence of beliefs...you believe in nothing like that. But in a way, if people are having regular atheism meetings and doing stuff like religious groups, it is acting more like a religion, but it's still not a belief system as such.

I've seen billboards with the above in various cities when traveling. Never did know which religion sponsored them.

I suppose it's interesting that people would think atheists meeting is a) and belief or b) anything like religion.

Would a town-hall meeting to discuss a proposed highway be considered religious in any way? Would a debating society meeting to discuss the impacts to industrialisation be considered in anyway religious? Would a weight-watchers meeting be considered in any way religious?

You simply cannot compare atheism to religion. It's the complete absence of belief, there are ZERO similarities whatsoever. Atheism is what's there when there's no religion. There is no belief involved at all.
