I'll agree I never rated her highly as an onstage performer, HOWEVER, as a voice I can't think of a better female singer
ooh well ill respond for u....
Dear "MR who ignited your tampon"
now back to Urethra
She is no way the #1 singer of the rock era. Not even in the top 100 probably. There is more to singing than having a nice voice.

Franklin, 66, came in ahead of Ray Charles at No. 2, Elvis Presley at No. 3, Sam Cooke at No. 4 and John Lennon at No. 5, according to the magazine's survey of 179 musicians, producers, Rolling Stone editors, and other music-industry insiders.

I was responding to the question I thought which was who were better singers.
as to your question I believe it was ............
^^^^ I checked out your link. Now I see why you were riled up. I can't believe just this small portion that shows she came in ahead of Elvis for goodness sakes, or even Ray or John. WTH?Franklin, 66, came in ahead of Ray Charles at No. 2, Elvis Presley at No. 3, Sam Cooke at No. 4 and John Lennon at No. 5, according to the magazine's survey of 179 musicians, producers, Rolling Stone editors, and other music-industry insiders.
Not sure how that still worked out for Aretha, unless most of those who voted really liked her or felt sorry for her or whatever. Amazing.....Voters included Metallica frontman James Hetfield, folk singers David Crosby and Yusuf Islam, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, punk rock veteran Iggy Pop and English pop star James Blunt. They each submitted their top 20 choices, and an accounting firm tabulated the results.
Bill.. the problem is Rolling Stone.. it's a piece of crap when it comes to music....
They either love a group or singer or hate them...
Ask Jim his opinion on Rolling Stone... you would end up getting an ear full!
send him to this thread Melissa.... maybe others here would want to hear it too....
