I came across this and thought I'd pass it on:

We had eight years of Bush and Cheney, Now you get mad!?

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and
appointed a President.

You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate
energy policy.

You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn't get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn't get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.

You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.

You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans...oh hell no.

Exactly why I won't complain about the President.
There were so many fucked up things done before Obama it's ridiculous to hear people get so much more pissed off now than they ever did over all that stuff before.

My thoughts? Wow, what a load of bullshit. The healthcare bill is nothing more but shoving us towards a completely single payer system, it's even more disingenuous than the Iraq war was (and that's saying a lot). They're going to force even more people onto the already insolvent Medicare and Medicaid programs, while at the same time cutting Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements to doctors, and effectively causing the insurance companies to raise rates to everyone, which will cut their margins even lower than they are currently. This isn't about providing health care to people who can't go see a doctor (seeing as how you can already see a doctor as much as you want), but about control.

But... that all being said.

The Supreme Court ruled as they are supposed to do in cases like that, not to mention the fact that the "legal" recount was being manipulated by both sides. The Supreme Court didn't appoint a president, the system put in place by the founding fathers and the Constitution elected a President.

Provide proof where energy company officials manipulated and controlled the industry. I don't know of any.

It was bullshit when Plame got outed as a covert operative, I certainly won't argue that, and I think a lot of people were upset over it.

I was furious over the PATRIOT Act being passed, as were many people that I know. It was legislation every bit as bad as this bullshit health care bill. It's provided the government control over our lives, if only indirectly.

Invading Iraq wasn't a good thing by any stretch of the imagination, people were manipulated into thinking that the threat was far greater than it actually was. Ousting Saddam, while I think it was a good thing, wasn't worth $600 billion.

As far as the $10 billion going missing, well... that shit happens all the time in our government as it is, but see the above comment about the $600 billion.

Torture is something of a gray area... those being tortured weren't under the protections of the Geneva convention, but at the same time... it's really hit of miss as to whether or not it would even be effective. I'll simply say that I don't agree with torture at all, but I can see why it would have been used under those circumstances.

I don't think we're ever going to catch bin Laden, but I also don't think that there was much more that the government could have done to catch him to be honest. Perhaps if there was to invasion of Iraq, the resources would have been there to catch him, but at the same time... you just don't know.

Walter Reed... well it gave us a glimpse into the future as to how government run healthcare for the private sector will end up. And people wonder why people like me are so adamantly opposed to any of this.

They tried to evacuate New Orleans, but not everyone left... that isn't the government or the Bush administration's fault. Neither were the levees breaking... the city was poorly designed for it's location.

$900 billion in tax cuts to the rich... well the last time I checked, the rich were also the people that keep the rest of us peons employed. Personally, I'm all for it... in addition, those cuts didn't just affect the rich. For myself, well I get to look forward to higher taxes later this year when those cuts expire... and I'm firmly in the middle class.

Again, I was pissed beyond belief over the deficit hitting $1 trillion, but that doesn't even come close to comparing to my fury over what Obama has pushed it to via fear tactics of his own.

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and
appointed a President. I'm comfortable with the way it ended; the whole thing was ugly and unseemly.

You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate
energy policy. Not aware of that one, so no comment.

You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed. No covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed. Yes, I did.

You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us. Yes, I did.

You didn't get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war. I did, and still am. Damned little is being done even today.

You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq. Hundreds of billions are disappearing even now. I'm angry, but far more angry that the federal gov't has such a huge budget that 10 million can disappear.

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people. That's true.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans. Yes, I did.

You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden. Bin Laden's dead. Been dead. When it's politically expedient, he will be caught and blown to bits in an explosion.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed. I've never visited Walter Reed, but I've been to Fort Sam Houston's BAMC many times. It's freakin immaculate. I'd imagine any really old hospital can be portrayed as a shithole.

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown. What's this "we" shit? The mayor of New Orleans and the governor of Louisiana fucked that one up - no one else. Still, the 9th Ward stands today as a shining example of over-dependence on government intervention.

You didn't get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich. I got mad when they did it under Bush; I got mad when they did it again under Obama.

You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark. That's true. I was already mad by then.

You finally got mad when the government decided blah blah blah blah ......... :blah:

One-sided, completely disingenuous tripe, but thought provoking.

The part that amazes me that if you combine everybody on the left, center, and the right, you'd find that 100% of the last 10 years at least has been completely fucked up, unconstitutional, and corrupt.

But come 2010 and 2012, we're gonna keep electing either the exact same people that have been fucking it up, or people from the same parties of the people who have been fucking it up. God bless America, and all it's fine but ignorant voters :usa:

An interesting topic, certainly one that I've thought about recently. The likes of Glen Beck openly supported the increases in Bush's govts powers, cheered for the Wall Street bailout amongst other things. It seems a tad hypocritical to be so angry at the current administration when he's just picking up from where Bush left off...

I think it's quite simple though: Bush and his cronies created an atmosphere of fear in the US, which allowed him to do an awful lot under the guise of national security. Suddenly, when Obama was voted in, the lack of constant security threats has calmed everyone down enough to realise what's going on....

You write as if Obama's different. I think it's quite simple though: Obama and his cronies created an atmosphere of fear in the US, which allowed him to do an awful lot under the guise of national healthcare. Suddenly, when the next guy is voted in, the lack of constant lies about people dying on the streets will calm everyone down enough to realise what's going on....

Notice that no major power-grabs of previous administrations ever get repealed once the so-called "opposition" takes over.

Fear is the main tool politicians use these days for vote winners, be it terrorism, or as you say people dying in the streets. I think that's the point of the original post though - technically Obama is doing a very similar thing to Bush (increasing govt and spending), just using slightly different fear tactics, but why only the anger at Obama?

Obviously there's not only the anger at Obama. Obama's in charge now and memories are short. I think a large part of it is that the people's anger grew with Bush, and now it's boiling over at watching Obama continue Bush's old programs as he simultaneously grabs even more.

It does surprise me that Obama hasn't lost more supporters since being in power. He came in with the slogan of change and doesn't really seemed to have changed very much at all...

Several of the things on the list angered me. I regret voting Bush in for a second term but God knows there was a shortage of viable options. Unfortunately Bush was out of touch in term 2. Probably a good thing he was a lame duck with an uncooperative congress. I believe Obama is out of touch to start with but has a congress willing to do anything which is a power grab for them.

We are being attacked ... by big insurance and greeeeeeeedy Wall Street.
Anybody who doesn't support this war against the elites hates their fellow man and don't care if they die in the streets with cures literally around the corner at the local clinic.
