I just opened my computer- it's been hibernating and plugged in all night. When I opened it, it started beeping at me. Not computer sound beeps, but like an alarm beep. My volume was on a little bit, but I'm pretty sure it's never made that noise again. I shut it really quick cause it was loud and scared me, but it didn't go into hibernate.

Any clues? It's a Toshiba Satellite a75-s125

I don't think so.... Is that an anti-theft thing I would have to put on it? My computer was completely stripped and rebuilt about 4 or 5 months ago, and I've never had a problem with it. I'm pretty sure it didn't get put on there.

I had a Satellite for a short time.

The only thing that I could think of that would be close is the "auto shutdown" tone. If the unit thinks it's getting too hot it automatically shuts down to avoid burning itself out. I discovered this when I put mine on the couch and it sunk far enough to block the air vents.

Check to see if it was overheating.

If its not, call Jack Bauer. Somebody's trying to assassinate you.

I don't know. It had been off all night, I flip it open and, well, it wasn't even a beep. It was a meep. I don't know. It was freaky! It's been fine all day. Maybe my roommate had an alarm set and it was just really perfect timing?

Sometimes putting a PC into hibernate can screw it up. As well as putting into standby. I've had problems with both, and don't do it anymore. Granted, my puter is a mess.

It's from The Office and the only reason I have it is because I have a thing for Ms. Pam Beasley (the character's name.)

But regarding your problem, someone said something about hibernate doing funky things to computers. I can vouch for that. Every time I put either of my laptops in hibernate it randomly messes up my clock and date.
