I see where they're coming from, but I honestly wouldn't care. Anybody who would get offended by something a cashier says to greet you must not be very secure with their beliefs. But can you blame Wal-Mart for doing that? How are the employees to know if they are Christian or Jewish?
How would you feel if Wal-Mart only said Happy Hanukkah?
I think it's the right thing to do for bigger businesses, it keeps all the customers happy rather than catering to only one group.
And this is an example of only 2 groups... there are many groups all with their individual ways of celebrating the holidays or not.
I refuse to say Happy Holidays .. unless I mean christmas and new years combined .. but I usually say Merry Christmas or Happy New Years.
And imo, maybe people should say "ho" so much .. as to confuse what SANTA CLAUS has been saying for how many years.
It's complete BS.
Yes it's Jesus's birthday .. but you can't expect people from other religions to respect that. For them it is holiday time, time for gifts, appreciation of family, and good food and good times.
I can't fathom why that bothers so many people.
I agree with you 100% on your post... except for the part that's bold.
I don't think it's a lot of people, I think its a very small minority that the media seeks out for a good story.
I celebrate the feeling more than the religious aspect. All holidays today except government ones were melded together from a variety of different beliefs. It's just that Christianity seems to overshadow the lesser aspect of the holiday because religion plays such a huge role in many lives for some unknown reason.Christmas is a load of bull shit anyway. I couldn't care less what anyone does for it. Celebrate it as much as you want. I do find it hilarious all the Jesus stuff associated with it when the Christians nicked it from pagans anyway!

Having to argue about/fight to keep/defend something that you've celebrated for umpteen years .. for no other reason except .. "all of a sudden it offends me" .. it takes a little of the "jazz" out of the whole thing imo.I really don't think it ruins anyones Christmas....
Agree with you dude! It's nice that people can get together as families and have something nice to do. I just hate seeing all this Jesus in a manger and religious shit at this time of year. Christians nicked Christmas and adapted it from Sun worshipers. There's nothing Christian whatsoever about Christmas. Find your own stuff to celebrate rather than nicking other religions, is my opinion.
How exactly is celebrating the birth of christ not part of christmas? How is that nicked from sun worshipers? I don't think jesus was a sun worshiper.
That would be fine with me if it's a Wal-Mart in Israel.
This is the US. We are a Christian nation with Christian values. I see no reason to change the way we do things to hide that. In no way does that make us less tolerant of other religious beliefs. They are saying Merry Christmas, not "Get the fuck out, you Kike." :smiley24:
Well let me ask you how the stores handle it there in Hawaii... since over 61% of the population are not Christian. Do you have stores that have alternative displays than Jesus in a manger?
