i hope the police get burned for it.

why? I didn't read the article but it was an accident...if the cops were doing something they weren't I can see them getting into a lot of trouble but if they were in persuit of a criminal why burn them? isn't it enough they have to live with what they did...I wouldn't want that resting on me for the rest of my life

Was it really that important to chase a petty criminal at high speed the wrong way on a one way, that a little boy had to die for it? Just because something is an accident doesn't mean there aren't consequences.

Petty criminal? The article said they were responding to a report of a man with a gun. Given the recent events at Virginia Tech and elsewhere, I'd appreciate the cops getting there ASAP. Yes, it's tragic. But how do we know the kid didn't step out from behind a parked car where the cops couldn't have seen him? We don't know enough about the situation to pass judgment either way.

I don't care if someone is on top of a car with an M60, you shouldn't go speeding through city streets the wrong way on a one way, period. You are putting in jeopardy as many lives as you are trying to save. The guy REPORTEDLY had a gun, not the guy was shooting people, or the guy was threatening to kill someone, some guy reportedly had a gun, so some cops went speeding down a one way street the wrong way and killed a little boy. That's the facts, there's no need to pass any kind of judgment, it's right there in front of us. Just because cops have a dangerous job doesn't give them a free pass to do stupid shit like go down a one way the wrong way at high speed in the middle of a city. I refuse to believe there wasn't another street a block or less away that wouldn't have gotten them to the same place without putting lives in danger.

The two cop cars collided at an intersection. One of the cars skidded to the sidewalk where it hit several people standing on the sidewalk. That's where the 4 year-old boy was killed.
Center city Allentown is VERY congested with a lot of people out and about on the streets. The one way street in question has 3 lanes of traffic to handle the amount of cars going through the city, it's the main drag. Allentown has a large police force since there is a lot of crime, so even if this one cop didn't get there right away (by going down a one way street) there still would have been 3-4 more cars that got there right away. I don't think it was necessary to take the chance and risk so many people, especially at that time of day when there are SOOO many people out on the street.

They weren't even chasing. They were responding to a report of a man with a gun.
