Had no idea it happened when it did but I was going down Coldwater road on my way to an appointment when all of a sudden the box truck in front of me gets on the brakes hard, I was a good 3-4 cars back and had to get on my brakes hard.
Stopped within 2-3 feet of him, then I see his hazards go on. I'm thinking wtf?
So I back up some so I can get around, as everyone else is going around me. Once I finally get around the truck I see that he tagged a cavalier pretty hard and tore up the backend, which in turn forced her into the back of a dodge caravan (newer one) didn't look damaged at all.
I came this close to being part of that pile up. The worst part is its on one of the main drags coming into town, and the light up ahead was flashing red/yellow because the power was down. They had it as a four way stop at a 4 lane route crossing another 4 lane route.
That freaked me the hell out, but I'm glad my brakes work!
