I played WoW (World of Warcraft) for about 2.5 years, broken into 2 periods. The first time 1.5 years, a 2 year break and then a second time for 1 year. Although I love WoW's zones and overall atmosphere, I'm confident I've finally sworn off the game. It became a matter of a grind and a been-there-done-that feeling. I won't be going back for Cataclysm. But I loved the game, think it is very successful in what it does, and have no regrets. I have WoW screen savers on my computer and get fond fluttery feelings every time I see one. :D

The last choice in the poll should have said "never played". Please use this criteria.

I am not in denial I know I'm not addicted to the game, but I do play it. It's not that hard to have self control and step away from the computer...only weak people get addicted to crap like a game and it's because they allow themselves to.

I will play a lot more during the cold months of the year, but typically the warmer months I'm maybe on one day a week and it's just to run around and basically do nothing.

I bought WoW and started playing after being persuaded by some friends. I have to admit, the game is well developed and the world is very nicely put together. However, at the same time, I felt that the game got repetitive fast and eventually grew tired of it. I also started to feel like WoW had become a higher priority than it should be. After about a month, I quit and don't regret it.

The thing is though, I have nothing against people who play WoW. It's their way of unwinding and having fun after a day at work or school. It isn't my place to judge those who play the game. I feel that it only becomes a problem when people become addicted and begin neglecting important duties, which can happen with anything.

I have too much extracurricular as it is. Besides, since I have a semi-desk job, I'd rather my play time be outside.

I think the potential for the most fun in WoW is by playing in a dedicated group. For one thing it takes the "left behind" sensation out of the equation and allows you to deal with repetition better. But dedicated groups is not possible for everyone.

I played it for a while, but I couldn't take it seriously.
I almost played it ironically lol

I am not very good at games that have missions or 'quests' (that's what they call missions apparantly)
I prefer to fight other players around the world, especially those weeker than I was.

It looks a great game but I know if I starting playing it I would get addicted and spend far too much time on it. Like heroin, I find it's best to just avoid it in the first place.

I've played it, like in 2007 or something. But I've got no interest in it now, I never found it very fun when I was playing, and I look upon it now with a sense of revulsion (it's booooooooring).

Although, I have a few friends who play it, some of them are pretty into it. Normally when people ask me if I play WoW, I normally make a smart ass comment like "No sorry, I have a life. Once I'm finished having fun doing real life activities, I might start playing".

All things considered, most people I know who play/have played the game have a healthy social life, and are relatively normal (not conforming to a 'nerd' stereotype). So I don't mean to say that the people who play it are socially retarded nerds.

I've been playing for 4.5 years now (started in Nov. 05). Though I played in the original closed beta, so I technically have played for longer. I've taken some 1-3 month breaks in there, or times when I've only played once or twice a week. Right now I'm the GM of a smallish guild that's raiding twice a week. Some might call me addicted, but I spend time doing things other than WoW too. Plus it's one of the few things that I can do to spend time with Anastasia, so it's not just me being addicted to the game, it's time we spend together doing stuff.

Right now I have withdrawals, because my server is one of the ones down for 24 hours today. *shakes fist* I need to make gold damnit!

i take a break for about a month or 2 every couple months
its nice to escape casually, i dont see that as addicted seeing as it doesnt affect my everyday life.
