ive never known anyone to go out of their way to dress a certain way to attract people.. if they dress revealing its likely they do on a daily basis just because..

I'll admit it...I've dressed more revealing around a male friend that I know likes stuff like that b/c, well, we've hooked up in the past and I was horny and wanted to hook up again. :dunno I think anybody that's ever gone out clubbing can attest to the fact that people DO dress that way quite often in an effort to garner attention.

yes im serious. if they dressed in jeans and a t-shirt every day why would they even own fishnets and a tube top? the people that dress in that do so because they own it and have worn it before

For the record...I don't own a tube top, but I do own fishnets (and, actually, this kinda goes to my point...I bought said fishnets b/c that same guy had a thigh-high/fishnet fetish, LOL).

I have all sorts in my wardrobe. I dont wear a lot of it. But I have jeans and hoodies, dress jeans, heels, dresses, fishnets, stockings, you name it, I probably have it.

When my son was born, a co-worker said to me, "Oh good, a boy ... now you only have to worry about one penis." Then when my daughter was born, my co-worker said, "Now you have to worry about all the penis in the world!"

When my daughter starts getting to the age where she may start wanting to dress "fashionable" and start wearing more revealing clothing ... I have no idea how I am going to act. I would hope that I could teach her to be self confident and self respecting and understand that it isn't necessary ... as Darrell said above, I would hope that I would be able to teach her such qualities. Girls want to attract boys! This is something that just simply exists ... it's natural.

I really like the part about teaching boys about respect and self control! This is something that I know I am going to try my very best to teach my son. Whether we like it or not, our society teaches males that they need to go out and sex it up! Think about it ... how many sitcoms are there where the are jokes about so and so guy still being a virgin. Sure they are jokes ... but I am willing to bet that these send messages.

Of course, something to keep in mind with kids is that they are unique, individual Humans with their own thought process. How many of us could raise our hands and say, "My parents told me not to do this ... but I did it anyway." Now dealing with THAT is what makes things a bit more complicated. It would be nice if kids (especially teens) were computers that you could program to do exactly what you want ... doesn't exist though.

So ... would I allow my teenage daughter to go to a party dressed like a "slut?" No ... it would not be allowed. I would try and talk her out of it ...

then she would probably change ... go to the party .... and change back into the clothes that she was originally going to wear! >: c

I never did the changing thing. I never really wore revealing clothes til I was 18/19. My parents never told me not to go out dressed like that. Equally I am sure they knew that I wore what I liked cos I liked it, not because I wanted to attract male attention. Less is more. It's a matter of conveying that to the kids.

My daughter always dressed conservatively until she was in college where she wore a few things which were more revealing. I believe if you raise them right and are a good example then they mimic what they see. I do not believe my daughter ever went out of her way to dress like a slut but some of her clothes were tight in my eyes.
