Would you call her Racist?

It was 24 years ago. She clearly said it was the first time she had to help a white person, and that time was what made her realize her thinking was wrong so she changed it. She helped the man. The job she was fired from was one she got 5 months ago.

She should have lost her job? Really?

~~~~~~~~
I'm glad to hear on the news this morning that she's been vindicated and the NAACP has apologized. I hope the Ag Dept offers her the job back so she can refuse. I'm watching O'Reilly this evening for the first time in a long time to see if he apologizes for saying she should resign.
is there a statute of limitations on racism then? 24 years is long tho, I wasn't aware of the time frame involved...
... perhaps a slap on the wrist and a "don't do it again" would suffice.
So if your next boss finds out that you fucked up years ago on another job, he'd be justified in canning you? Maybe he should just dock your pay a bit for not giving a previous employer your 100%? Come on, Ed. She realized her feelings and adjusted her behavior the very first time they had an opportunity to surface. She's using that experience to teach others. This is an example of one embarrassed party being too eager to find a 'gotcha' moment on another.
I don't work in a pubic office position, so no. She however, does.
It is a prime example of that, as you say. Like I said, she doesn't need to lose her job.
One thing I do believe is that people can change. One of the ways is to admit whatever you wish to change, she did this openly and, I think, to prove a point. People are influenced by their upbringing, the people they interact with, etc., doesn't mean you can't choose to think and live a different way. And making that choice, though not easy, is admirable.
So why did Foxnews not make a big story out of the fact that this happened 24 years ago under the Presidency of Ronald Regan ? After all it's always the President's fault right ? :D
If dirty politics is what they were after, that's what they should have done but of course that would have hurt their own cause.. Too bad others have not picked up on that fact yet.. :24:
OK I said my piece..:willy_nilly:
There isn't a racist bone in my body. I have never had hang-ups or issues with any race my entire life, it's how I was raised. When I look at someone else I see the person, not the color of their skin.
But with that being said, I can remember things that I have done or said that would be considered racist. If I were to talk about them today as a teachable moment for someone else, does that mean I'm a racist?
Can anyone here say they have never repeated a racist joke, looked at someone differently because of their look or treated someone differently than you would have if they looked like you?
We all have teachable moments in our own lives that we should be able to openly share. The whole point of it being a teachable moment is the fact that you saw your error and corrected it, right?
And for the record, she wasn't in a government job when this happened 24 years ago. She was working in the private sector.
Fox is the evil network, no fool'n. I called them Pravda, but that is just mixing tangerines and oranges.
A conservative asshole got the ball rolling and a kneejerk (liberal?) overreacted. sigh. Things are so partisan these days.
An incompetent inexperienced liberal over reacted
Reminds me of something I heard years ago.
"You order shit.... You eat shit"
You can blame it on Fox all ya want but Obama is the one that made this into a fiasco.
Next I am gonna bet you want the fairness doctrine restored so you poor liberals can force us to eat the bilge we otherwise would not listen to :D
