I'm certain cops enjoy the power they have and even more sure that sometimes they abuse their power. It's not an issue of good cop/bad cop. It's about people loving power!

Cops say and do alot of things that have no logical reasoning or not having anything to do with their job.

1) They continue to use excessive force resulting in pain when subject is already subdued...

2) They put in their personal thoughts which has no place or relevance in the arrest...

So would you abuse your power for the simple fact it feels good to piss off supposed criminals knowing you'll get away with it?

I'd like to say I wouldn't, but I think that's because I don't have the right personality to be a cop.

Not all policemen are like that and I certainly wouldn't be either.
I don't like the idea of people being afraid of an officer.

i understand what you mean because i grew up fearing the cops even when i wasn't doing anything wrong. i still donnot like cops much just on the notion they think they're righteous citizens and those that slip at times are not 'good'. i love to report cops for mundane shit just to be a nitpicking citizen. :D

Really? I have a question I must ask you...

Do police have quota or do they get paid straight salary? or kind of both? I donno if that's too personal idk...i've really wanted to know for a long time.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any police departments that have a quota, at least that I know of.

No and I think all cops who do abuse their power need a good square kick in the nuts. If they don't have nuts kick them there anyway. It's bound to hurt.

Yes, some laws are just plain wrong and I couldn't harrass and cause harm to people for doing things that I have no problem with.

My cousins hubby is a cop. He drives like a maniac when he is off duty in his own vehicle. Every time he gets stopped he shows them his police ID and is let go. That in my opinion is an abuse of power by him and the cops who always let him slide.

That would depend on who is pulling him over per if he gets a "free ride".

Personally, couldn't pay me enough money (let alone what most of those guys make) to put my life on the line everyday dealing with all those "interesting people" who tend to always have issues with any law.

More and more incidents of police abuse are occurring every day. What percentage of cops are like the one in this video? Who knows, but one is too many, and there are lots of incidents like this happening every day:

Ohio Cop Suspended After Cursing Out A Card-Carrying Gun Holder (GRAPHIC VIDEO)

Officer Harless approached Bartlett, who was still behind the wheel.

"I have a carry...," Bartlett can be heard saying before he is cut off and ordered out of the vehicle. Bartlett can be seen holding a card in his hand. When asked what it is for, he replied, "Because I have a concealed carry."

After taking Bartlett's .38-caliber Ruger pistol, Harless placed him into the back of the patrol car and began yelling at him for not notifying him he was armed.

Right now, the s - - t you just pulled, I could blast you right in the mouth ... you're going to catch a felony on this one," Harless said.

"It’s how f - - king cops get killed ... I'm so close to caving in your goddamn head," the officer continued. "You f - - k with me. You're just a stupid human being. F - - king talking to me with a goddamn gun."

Harless goes on to ask Bartlett if he wants him to pull his own gun and stick it to his head, to which Bartlett replies, "No sir. No sir," and then Harless said Bartlett did not "deserve to f - - king move throughout public."

"I swear to god man this little bull crap you pulled has me so hot," the officer said. "You know what I should have done? I tell you what I should have done. As soon as I saw your gun I should [have] taken two steps back, pulled my Glock 40 and just put 10 bullets in your ass and let you drop. And i wouldn't have lost any sleep. Do you understand me?"

"And he would have been a nice witness as I executed you because you're stupid."

Kinda says it all. I'm gonna follow this now to see how it plays out.

Nope, I would not. I'm such a stickler for rules, I would never be able to abuse my authority, and live with myself.

I will admit that I have been pulled over a total of, hmmmmm, 13 times. I NEVER tell them where I work unless they ask me. I know when I get pulled over I deserve it. This would be the reason I received a ticket on my birthday several years ago for running a red light as well as a speeding ticket just a few months ago (admittedly, that one WAS changed to a warning, but it was not b/c I asked...someone else went to bat for me on their own resolve). I should add, though, that although I wear the uniform I do NOT consider myself a "cop" b/c I have not been through mandate and have no arrest powers beyond a citizen's arrest.

And for the record, I have slowed down CONSIDERABLY since I received my speeding ticket as I promised the people who changed it to a warning for me.

I didn't watch the video, but based on what I read I would say the cop was way out of line. But there are MANY times when an officer is accused of being out of line when they are not. Anybody remember the traffic stop where that state trooper shot and killed the family dog that charged him??? He got reamed a new one and he was totally in the right in that situation.
