Worried....(not for sensitive stomachs)

It's been a while since ive posted on here...im always busy with the arcade! LoL :p Anyway, i had written a while back about my husbands dog....11 yr old lab we thought to be pregnant....well she wasnt....it was a false pregnancy. (thank the lord) So for a while ive been noticing the skin aroun her neck area was a bit saggy....i just figured it to be from where she gained weight from the false pregnancy and lost it and it was just loose skin. WELL.....today was finally a pretty day around here and i stayed outside for a bit and let her out of the back fence and i happened to notice her neck at a closer view.....it was dripping....gooieness. Now it takes ALOT for me to get queesy....blood and guts and all that dont bother me but when i looked underneith at her neck....i about threw up!! I mean, just sitting here thinking about it makes me gag!! I really have not idea how to describe what it looked like! It was like a mass.....i guess like a tumor looking thing. Im no expert so i cant really say what is wrong but SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG!! ITS DISCUSTING LOOKING!! Im one to study (look) at something to figure it out but there was not a chance i was gonna look at that thing again!! I believe we're gonna really have to take her to the vet this time!!

So sorry to hear that, it hits you hard when your dog dies.:( I had to have mine put to sleep just over a year ago, I'd had her for about 9 or 10 years. Best way is to fill the gap by giving another dog a loving home, there are many of them that need one. I have another beautiful greyhound now who is a great part of my family.:)

So what was wrong with ehr neck .. from what you described .. it sounded like an embedded collor .. either that or something bit her.

We didnt have them examin her to find out what was wrong. We just decided to go ahead and put her at peace.

Thanks.....yeah we're looking forward to giving our son his own 'dixie' in a couple of years.

No they looked at it but they didnt make a diagnosis. They asked us if we wanted to go ahead with that procedure and it would be an extra $75 but whether we did or not, we knew we were going to put her to sleep and that she was just told old and has been through enough. So why pay the extra cost when we knew what we were going to do. Not only that but we're about to move and the move alone would have put too much stress on her.
