seems that people live in an acronym world and yet we don't say "LOL" in real discussions...

I've nearly said lol a few times in real life, luckily I caught it before it came out :24:

Yeah it's fine in British English but according to Wikipedia, it's fallen out of usage in American and Canadian English. Infact it seems to be considered archaic and pretentious anywhere outside the UK and Australia.
