The news is saying they're going to lift the restriction of allowing women into combat roles. I say hurrah and about time. News flash - women are already in combat and have been for years. Plus, I think we're past that stupid gender-norming bull of lowering the qualification bar for women.

What say you?

But not in combat roles, only support.

I wonder if women will have to register for the draft like men do. I don't agree with the registration, but it should at least be consistent.

Overall physique and stamina while fully loaded with heavy gear IS an issue. Some other heavy jobs like tank and artillery crews are too much as well. It is not that they can't do some things but to do them for extended periods of time or to be able to rotate in to replace an injured team member during an extended firefight are real problems. Then again a girl Marine on the rag with heavy weapons would be formidable.!:24:

Y'know, a truly good woman would have anticipated that and you'd never have to type this post.

But is that reason to summarily reject every woman? Most men don't have the physique or stamina required of a Marine, but we still allow any who wants to try to give it a shot. I don't think you can say any job that a man can do is "too much" for all women. I say we should set the criteria and allow anyone capable and willing to do the job to do it. It doesn't take a penis to pull a trigger.

lets face it not every human is physically and mentally powered to handle combat
so you have to weed them out towards they're best fitted area of capabilities
sex and race should have nothing to do with it

I say if women can go thru bootcamp they should be able to go anywhere. I know women I would wish to cover my back, I also know men I would NOT wish to.........., both because of physical and psychological reasons.

I personally don't want to be in a combat role, but I say if there are women willing to do it, let them. No different than having female police officers, IMO, and trust me we have got one working for our local PD that will put ANY guy on their ass. She had to fight one several weeks ago and she was not the one to come out of it w/ a broken nose, IJS

I like the idea of a woman covering your back :)

Well said. Unfortunately, I don't think our military cares enough about human life that it would use resources to weed out those (both men and women) who do not belong in combat.
