The good thing is that you can still download versions of Windows 7 if you want to stick with that on newer PCs or laptops, all you have to do is buy a license after you install it.

Yeah, windows 8 came with my new laptop. I was really worried it would be all app based, but you still get the desktop so it's okay. Honestly I don't even use the apps. I can just go in chrome and load a radio station faster than loading an app actually.

The hardest thing for me to find was the turn off button, the control panel, and all the settings. I actually had to google how to turn off my computer, haha. I think windows 8 is faster than 7, maybe it's just my compute but I like it better than 7 and even vista technical wise. I think they tried to make it both applicable to laptops and those with tablets since the tablet industry is growing.

I've used windows 8 and I'll admit it takes a while to get the feel of it but it would come in handy with a touch screen and or the new apps that are out.

Does anyone have Windows 8 or 8.1? I just recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. I've only had Windows 8 for a few months and I came from Vista. It was annoying to make that transition because it is very different. I'm just now getting used to how everything works now.

I was forced to upgrade from XP to Windows 8 because my computer fell off a table and broke. Vista was the most annoying experience I ever had so I downgraded from Vista to XP and now the new computer comes with Windows 8

For the past year (and a little more) I spent my time blaming Windows 8 based on reviews but not in the practice. Today that I'm using it, I was wrong. Windows 8 is really fast and stable, probably the best operating system that Microsoft has ever released after Windows 98SE, which was another great operating system.

A friend of mine who is really smart and builds his own computers dislikes win 8 so I will take his word for it and stick with win 7.

Although the interface of W8.1 is a bit annoying, W8 is much better performance wise. The boot is really fast when compared to 7, the OS takes a smaller part of the HDD and some applications and games run smother with W8 ( based on some reviews the apps/game part). I just use a theme with it because I dislike those menus but other than that I'm really happy that I upgraded.

I absolutely HATE Windows 8. Even after getting used to it, I still missed the normal desktop type computers. I don't like how technology is pretty much making everything app compatible now. I would rather buy a refurbished computer with Windows 7 then a brand new computer with Windows 8 even if I have to spend the same or more. The only thing that I think Windows 8 is good for is if the computer is touch screen but I don't really like the idea of touch screen because I can type a lot faster with a keyboard and can sit back and relax instead of having to have the screen closer to me to touch it. Sometimes technology should just be left alone.
