Will there be another social networking site that would overthrow Facebook?

For me, I don't see any other social networking site that would topple Facebook at this time. Nevertheless, I hardly make use of Facebook these days because of my otherwise busy work schedule, not to mention that I have gained discipline by not using Facebook. In fact, I keep my accounts deactivated after every use thereof.

It's funny that teens are moving away from Facebook these days, since they are sick of being spied on by parents, employers, and faculty. Polls from just a few years ago regarding privacy concerns were showing the younger crowds being the least concerned about that - now there seems to be a change of heart I suppose.

I think the adult crowds will perhaps hold on to their Facebook accounts a little longer, since they amassed large friend lists years ago that they probably wouldn't be able to get again today. I think back in 2008, everyone was friending everybody on there to build up their counts, but several years later, reality is starting to set in more and I've noticed more and more people sharing less on there and not adding any new friends to their lists. I think Facebook will persist to some extent due to all of those who have become accustomed to lurking/stalking others privately on there. I know, personally, there are a lot of people on my list now that I probably wouldn't accept a request from on another newer network in the future.

I think that there might be site that can overthrow Facebook in the future, but as of now Facebook is still unchallenged. Myspace was the hottest social network back then until Facebook came, so we'll never really know what lies ahead.

Well, I frequent a lot of monetizing forums online, because I don't have a job. I don't want one and I would prefer to make money online, and one of the websites - that promised to be the NEXT Social Networking Sensation - that kept popping up was a website called Ripplin. I still have absolutely no idea how it works or anything like that and they have been preparing to launch and take the internet by storm for the better part of four months or so now, but still I have heard nothing.

Google+ may blow up in the years to come.

I doubt it, Google+ will never blow up. Since the start they have been struggling with members, the community is almost non-existent and I'm surprised it is sill open, at least no one in Portugal is using it, and I'm not even exaggerating.

Some other social site could outdo Facebook, but there are a lot of folks who are pretty invested in it. They have started groups and pages dedicated to their favorite hobbies, family circles, etc. They have set up whole albums of pics and build a huge "friends" network and have no desire to go through all that again on another site, then another and another.

Yes, most definitely. It happened with MySpace, Friendster, Bebo etc.

I feel Twitter will be, if not already, king. Facebook is on a decline and people will always get bored of what they have.

Twitter is on a decline as well.
Facebook decline is only with young teenagers.

If there ever is a social network that will defeat Facebook, it wont be any time soon.
