Will there be another social networking site that would overthrow Facebook?

Facebook is the king of social media today. It's the second most visited website in the world (next only to the Google search engine), it is the most searched website in the world, and it has millions of active users and counting. And they're still standing strong after years of operations. I think no other social media network has been this strong. Do you think that there will ever be any other social networking site that would overthrow Facebook? Or do you think that Facebook is here to stay in the long run?

Well, I frequent a lot of monetizing forums online, because I don't have a job. I don't want one and I would prefer to make money online, and one of the websites - that promised to be the NEXT Social Networking Sensation - that kept popping up was a website called Ripplin. I still have absolutely no idea how it works or anything like that and they have been preparing to launch and take the internet by storm for the better part of four months or so now, but still I have heard nothing.

Google+ may blow up in the years to come.

I have used Google+ in the passed and since they changed their site format I found it annoying and hard to use. There is certainly the possibility of another site that could take over Facebook, I don't see it happening anytime soon. Mostly because of how integrated Facebook is with so many other sites, and all the game developers that are so heavily invested in being linked to Facebook. Zynga comes to mind.

I don't think Facebook is here to stay. There's already a decline in daily users. It will probably still be used for a long time, but eventually, it will end up like Myspace, or whatever came before Myspace. I don't know if there will be anything to take it's place though. There is a chance that it's users get divided between multiple sites, each with a somewhat different purpose.

The only site right now that is giving Facebook some competition is Twitter, but since it is so different there are still people that will use both.

I believe that the future of Facebook will be similar to Google's future, both of these giants will wear out with the pass of the time and will be heading to decadence, while somewhere in the world a new social networking site and a new search engine could be already be in the process of growing and endure to take one day the place of those veterans that may remain in the battle, but much in the decadent way that Microsoft is still on the computers market.

I'm sure there will be someday. But then again, we aren't in the days of MySpace, Facebook is worth so much more than MySpace ever was. Maybe, just maybe, they have the funds to stay on top and buy out anyone who would give them competition

I think that there will be eventually. Recently a lot of the younger generations have been moving away from facebook in order to get away from their parents. And it seems like it will be inevitable. Once there is a social platform that outdoes facebook, then everyone will move onto that.

Facebook somehow thinks that throwing money here and there will keep them relevant. Sadly, they are mistaken as many people are shying away from Facebook. I read a report that said teenagers are starting to not even use Facebook anymore. Now with the growing concerns of privacy and government watching. I can see another social network emerging that says they respect privacy and all that jazz.

I don't see anything beating Facebook at this point but I suppose it is possible. Like someone has already mentioned, Google plus seems to be the only thing out there right now that may end up being bigger at some point. I suppose at one time we all only used MySpace and couldn't picture anything better then that.

No. At least not in the near future. Many have tried and failed but most people do not want to bother with so many social networks as it is too much work. One is enough to keep people occupied and keep in touch with friends. Only one forced by the government would overtake facebook.

Eventually we'll get sick of facebook, but we don't even need another central social site. We have smartphones with instagram and such, I think the next big thing is a bunch of little things.

I think Google + may step up their game a little bit in the future and try and compete with Facebook, however it's not like both companies aren't well affiliated with one another already. I really am hating the Google + takeover of YouTube, so I will definetely not be using Google + as a social network. I have Facebook, but rarely use it to be honest. I really think all social networking is just a cover for data collection and spying, even so people are going to use it including myself, I just really limit my use with it because I find it a big waste of time.

Im already tired of facebook allowing animal cruelty and fake pages named after real people to shame or bully them.. i have reported a few and the response was "its not breaking rules"... well fark that. So if a page called.. geraldisafarkface (eg) ..... is allowed..or pages dedicated to cruelty to animals.. with "hero" pics near their beastly victims... Im going to be over it fast and find a competing site with more morals if one comes up.

And the best of all is that all people has contribute to make Mark Zuckerberg rich in exchange of nothing but problems that having a Facebook profile has carried into the lives of many people.

The site is nowadays showing more and more bugs and performance issues but, like in Google, they are busy making money and don't care about their users.
