Wii Turns To 'Opera'

If you ask me, people are becoming way too fucking developed. Xbox is now basically a computer with video-games, Playstation is going that way(And I used to respect them so much!), and now, one of the last gaming system companies that was sticking to just games(Which is why I loved the Gamecube so much!) is going the way of the internet/computer. What the hell?! If I wanna play games and browse the net and download music and watch TV shows, all at the same time, I'll just get a computer game from Wal-Mart and put it on my computer. Damn. Then there's all these new iPod attatchments(The new shoe thing) and added features, and the cell-phones are going the same way too. It's rediculous.

dude - the original xbox was a computer(stripped windows 2000 kernel), and ps2 had an official sony linux distribution, available only in europe, i think... but still.

thats all they are, computers. they have dedicated memory, dedicated graphics, dedicated sound, et cetera. nowadays multicore... wireless, usb, firewire(sony's "i-link"), hd-tv(hdmi), et cetera.

But see, why can't they just make it simple, like Gamecube or N64? No internet and browsing and downloading music and TV shows etc. Just give it the original intended purpose: Playing games.

well, see, you can only turn to one culprit - the computer. it gave way for multiplayer games, and that in-turn went straight to the gamers on the console.

ps: the gamecube has a compartment under it for a modem, possibly even for a lan connection...

Well that is true I guess, about the computer. And I was always wondering what all that shit was under the Gamecube :D But I just think that things are becoming way to computerized and technological. In the words of Tyler Durden(Yes, I'm actually using a movie line as a philosophy or whatever on life), the things you own end up owning you. Soon we'll have no reason to buy computers, because all the game systems and cell phones will have internet. We'll have no reason for TVs and DVD players because all of the game systems, iPods, and cell phones can play shows/movies. I'm not against technology, but I guess I'm just old fashioned sometimes. Maybe I was born in the wrong time period. :ninja

I know what you mean, I'm straying WAY off topic but I'm gonna talk about guitars cause that's what I do. All these new guitars with active electroncs are bull in my opinion, I mean come on, a guitar that needs a battery. Or how about new amps, you open up the damn thing and it looks like computer inside it. I play a Rick, Kramer, and Jazz bass through a vintage Bassman amp (hince the user name) and it gets WAY better sound than any modern battery powered guitar could even dream of having. Sorry for straying off there buy you got me all worked up talking about unecssary technology.

Thats just the way technology iss advancing. 20 years from now your X box will probably be able to keep your beer cold and microwave your pizza for you too!:D
