I tend to not change things but I have noticed new people get great rates older customers get ignored. True of Direct TV and phone companies.

You could probably get your bill lowered, but you have to threaten canceling and I guess be willing to follow through... Maybe.

loyalty is overrated because companies do not care. whether it is employment or a service that is being provided. Don't get too comfortable with your providers because if you want to leave they are not going to stop you. If they do it is just a stop gap and they could really care less if you do move on. Whenever we closed a bank account at the branch we were always told to ask as to why and more often than not it was a service we couldn't provide. Until the bank had lost enough customers due to rates on savings accounts, cds, equity rates the bank realized that as much as you wanted to hold on to those customers it is too much of a burden to really hang on to them.

...yes its a sad state of affair these days... work or companies you buy into or work for do not seem to care any more. We are all just numbers now in the world of money and corporation.

On more than one occasion I changed companies for more than $50 week increase in pay. While waiting a year with a company only to receive a 25 cent per hour increase in pay.

I think they figure that most people, once settled somewhere, won't bother to move unless confronted with a far better offer. Often there isn't a vast difference between companies - apart from new customer deals. Hell, we're switching our electricity, but only because we'll be earning shopping points and getting a free meter, otherwise we wouldn't bother because it's only a couple of quid difference.

It's all about getting more and more followers, members, etc. That's the nature of greed, which I think defines "companies" on the whole.

That's an issue that often had been annoying me, too. Sometimes it seems, that all is just about getting new customers while existing customers are just being ignored.

I agree Fred. I have stayed with my insurance company because they have gone above and beyond for me a few times. But other than that I price shop.
