Deadlines, social pressures, and unstructured schedules challenge attention and focus. Why do academic demands worsen ADHD symptoms, and what accommodations work best?

I also believe the chaos doesn't help people with ADHD. There's lots of partying going on in colleges and with someone who's mind already wonders this makes it difficult for them to focus. My wife has ADHD, she took college courses online and actually did better than being in a classroom setting.

ADHD can feel harder in college because the structure is suddenly gone. You’re expected to manage your own time, deadlines, and focus without reminders or supervision.
There are also more distractions, less routine, and higher workload pressure. On top of that, tasks require longer sustained attention, which can be exhausting for an ADHD brain.
