I think that they maybe don't have the technology (like we don't) or maybe they are watching us. Not necessarily visiting us but just keeping an eye on what we're doing.

We're so violent towards each other that any other lifeforms seeing that would probably wonder what kind of reception they'd get if they visited.

we've only been around a few millenia, and we could die out any day. It's out of our control.

You send a signal into space, by the time it gets to the end of our solar system, its taken 4 years (assuming it travels the speed of light). We're dealing with huge distances here. It's highly unlikely we'll receive any signals. It's almost impossible that we'll be visited.

Think about how life was before the computer, or even the telephone..........we've come so far as far as technology is concerned to not trust the fact that, tomorrow, anything is possible.

And in 10 years you'll wonder how you ever lived without your holographic television that also makes toast.

But you still can't travel faster than the speed of light.

Yet;)

.....back in the 30's and 40's if you had told somebody that by the time they were grandmothers or great grandmothers their grandchildren would be talking to people face to face from china or anywhere else in the world, just by pressing a button or two on a little screen that was so small it would fit on their lap, they would've probably said the same thing, don't you think? I mean, doesn't it stand to reason that by the time our grandchildren or great grandchildren are old enough, they'll be asking themselves the same thing about people back in the 90's or early 2000's?

Ok, never say never, but it is highly highly highly highly unlikely.

Generally, scientists have accepted that you cannot travel faster than the speed of light. And hypothesise the future of space travel will be done by bending Space and time to your will. Warping instead of moving. Star Trek was pretty clued up.

Well, the world was flat just over 500 years ago right? Who knows what the future holds, that's all I'm saying.

i agree, to be honest i think we was once an advanced race and we have just cycled again, i mean you look at certain things in the world which have servived a long time and have baffled scientists. like the Antikythera Mechanisn over 2000 years old but with the techology of a modern day swiss watch!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antikythera_mechanism

and the Piri Reis map which is over 500 years old but maps the west coast of America almost exact to modern day maps, something which only satalite has been able to do for us in modern days. The map was drawn from 4 other source maps. Where did they come from? a previous time where we once had technology? maybe we wiped ourselves out before the diosaurs.

Just a though :)

TBH, if I was a visitor from outer space, and I saw how the human race acted, I wouldn't visit either or at the very least be secrative about it for now. :p

That information comes from a science fiction book where it is much exaggerated. Anyway you can be sure the source maps did not come from before the dinosaurs. The continents were very different back then. Any maps made then would not match today's maps.
