Curriculum choices and teaching methods influence perceptions. Are students encouraged to compare faiths critically, or merely adopt doctrine? Can education reduce prejudice without compromising belief?

Religious education can promote division when it focuses on differences without context or encourages “us vs them” thinking.

If it’s taught as doctrine rather than understanding, it can reinforce boundaries instead of empathy. But when it includes comparison and open discussion, it usually does the opposite and builds respect.
