Stereotypes, underrepresentation, and narratives shape public attitudes. How much responsibility do creators have in shaping social harmony? Can balanced media reduce prejudice, or do deeper structural issues outweigh portrayal?

Media representation influences racial perception because for many people, media is their main source of exposure to groups they don’t interact with regularly.
When certain groups are shown repeatedly in limited or stereotyped roles, those portrayals can shape assumptions about behavior, ability, or identity. Over time, repetition makes those images feel “normal,” even if they are incomplete or inaccurate.
