Why do you post in forums???

I post in many different ones. I mostly do it to blow off steam after a hard days work. really chill to smoke and talk to people online.

It's just a fun thing to do when I've got a spare half hour, or when I want to relax at the end of the day. It's amazing, when you think about it, that we can communicate with people on the other side of the world at the click of a button from behind our computer screens.

Well it's the same reason I talk to people IRL basically. To relax, socialize, meet new people, learn new things etc. And as Sarah said, it really is amazing how we can communicate with people across the globe within seconds.

Forums are a great place to discuss stuff you're into with like-minded people [something which you can't have in the real world most of the time because everyone has different interests, tastes and so on]. Some forums are topical which means only those people who have an interest in the topic join the forum and for that reason you can be sure that once you are a part of the community you'll be meeting people you share something in common with. And what binds friends together? Isn't it a common passion for something?

In addition to that, I post on forums because I want to express my opinions, something I don't get to do in the real world [often].

I do it for a gain of knowledge and I like to show incite on different things. A lot of people look for answers on the internet and I believe I can help them with a few subjects.

I've been posting online ever since I first starting using the internet... it was on newsgroups in those days. It's a good way of exploring new topics, learning new things and getting a different perspective on things you wouldn't otherwise consider.

One other thing is forums allow people to express their true opinions in ways they wouldn't in real life. I'm sure we all know people in real life who are completely opposite to us when it comes to religion, politics etc. Sometimes in real life it's just easier to nod along and avoid conflict rather than state your true opinion and cause an argument. On a forum you can express yourself how you wish and get into some good discussions without causing too much hassle (as long as it's kept reasonably friendly, of course).

Forums offer a venue to voice my opinions and in the process, assist others in some way or another. Based on the nature of the forum, I have the opportunity to encourage others, as well as, receive much needed encouragement. However, sometimes, I post on forums because I feel a bit mischievous.

Forums are places where I can say what I think about different topics and meet people who care about similar things. It's a good way to get to know people on the internet. Social media is a good way too, but in forums you're having a proper conversation about an actual topic, which makes it a lot better.

It's a good way to exchange ideas with a lot of people without having to leave your room! Imagine asking 1000 people face to face what they think about xyz. Forums are great in that you can find information from real people rather than some journalist who may or may not be knowledgeable in the field of interest

The reason that I post in forums varies. The people that you know in real life often have no experience with the queries that you sometimes feel the need to make online in forums, and so forums are the best place to esquire about whatever it is that you would like information about. So that is one reason. Another reason is because I like talking to people and not having to see their faces. The fact that you don't have to be in the same place as someone to talk to them creates this openness, which otherwise would not have occurred. In other words, there is less fakeness lol.

Another reason is because I don't relate to people very easily, or rather it could be the other way around? I like forums, because I get to choose what I want to talk about and who I talk to. I have learned quite a lot of things from people on forums. Say you have just bought a new product and you don't know how to use it, or it malfunctions, then you can go to a forum specifically about that product and ask questions and learn the experiences of the other member's as it pertains to said product. Forums are cool.

I post on forums because I enjoy stating my opinion on various topics and seeing others aswell. I also like to learn about new things and forums can be a great way to do that!

I like the way people (usually) act on forums. The discussions, friendliness and variety of subjects are extremely fun and addicting in my opinion. Besides, it's a good way to build online friendships with a lot of people!

When I first came online one of my earliest discoveries was leaning about all those communities that live inside the different forum sites.

This was to me a great opportunity to socialize when social networking sites did not exist yet, and I love to be part of a forum community since.

In fact I'm more active posting in forums than in Facebook, where I rarely stop by. So my motivation is this; being part of great communities like OffTopicZ is

For me, it's one of the ways to spend time on the Internet, and posting in forums means you're sharing your opinions, interests, etc. You may be able to find others with similar interests, and that makes it easier and more intriguing for you to make new friends.
Also, it's when I need to spend some time because I feel bored and have nothing do, while I can watch videos instead, I like to talk to people too.

This is the only place that I posted at regularly. I have been to a different place a few years ago. But the place sucked. When I first started here it was because a friend of mine told me about this place. Shortly after I joined he stopped posting. Anyway we had a great community here and we seem to have a good one building here now.

I just like to post with others from different backgrounds.
