I'm just saying that you can't expect people to think that personal experience valid at all in an argument.

Saying things like "I experienced god speaking to me today" is illogical to use in an argument, since you can't possibly prove it and the person you are telling shouldn't just accept it out of hand without some sort of proof.

I think it this would be a good time to reread the title of this thread. It isn't prove God exists.

Yes, it is very difficult for people that are not in close relationship with others (trust in their character) to hold much weight in those people's personal experiences.

But personally I believe that the Holy Spirit is working in the life of many people here on this forum. Some you can tell are being convicted and are going with it, others are fighting it, and others are rejecting it. But make no mistake that the principalities of good and evil surround us everyday, all day and that it's very obvious much of the time which direction we are all walking in. Basically it boils to not discounting personal experience because it is a path that will amount to an end or a new beginning ... and we are constantly at a crossroad.

... and now I am offtopic ... lol
Guess I'm in the right forum.

Oh shit. It's true. Good spotting. I lost track also.

I think this would be a good time for you to realize that conversations evolve.

Ouuuuuch!!!! Cold as ice.

Not if you are Christian :)

:24:

if that was a stab at evolution there are plenty of Christians who believe in it.

That was a funny stab, period.

FWV has a wonderful sense of humor.

Thank you. I was quite proud of the joke, myself.

Yeah I thought it was pretty funny/clever, myself. I laughed.

I LOLd too.:rofl2: It was a sneaky one by FreeWorkVest. It went above the ole AEF. He's a meanie. :D

Good friend mine Confucius say "When in doubt, ask question. When not want to answer question, answer question with 'nother question. If ask again, answer with more question. Sooner or later give up they will".

Such as a Billion dollars.

Last time i checked, we've been observing black holes for a while now.

It's complicated. I know what you're getting at, though it is technically incorrect. We can see the affect they have on their surroundings, but not the actual singularity. .... Which leads me into my next set.... :D

Personal experience is also not proof. To turn your argument around.
[/quote]

That is absolutely incorrect.

Personal experience is the only proof mankind has. Weather personal experience unique to the individual, or the findings and experience of a group that then share their experience with others.

As was my point with the Billion dollars part. We "know" it exists because others tell us it exists. Because we can see the affects it has on the things around us. We've never seen it. (At least I've never seen it.)

People of the atheist persuasion are very quick to point to the ideas of a small group of like minded men and swear it is proof, but then turn a cold shoulder the the real life experiences of literally billions of people worldwide, and stretched from now through all of our united history.

There are countless examples of the work of God in peoples lives.

Short and sweet. I think that's a record for me. :)

But a billion dollars can be objectively verified. Supernatural entities can't.

There are countless examples of the work of God in peoples lives.
As there are countless examples of the work of Brahma, Shiva and Allah in peoples lives....does that mean they exist?

Not true. A lot of Atheists and Agnostics have been born as being apart of some religion, before their beliefs changed. I used to be religious myself. But now I'm an Agnostic.

Well, most people here are above the age of 18 and by now their beliefs are set, my religious believes changed when I turned 8, but, they have stayed the same since then and I don't plan on changing them.

Well, most people argue about religion on the existence of God, in a disrespectful way. An example can be when Cajun Fox kept saying Christians were idiots, and morons.
