Competitive multiplayer titles often bring out strong emotions, but some communities become noticeably hostile. Is this driven by game design, anonymity, ranking systems, or community moderation? Which games have handled player behavior well, and what practices seem to reduce toxic interactions?

I am not entirely sure but I guess it happens when competition gets intense. Another reason is people are generally anonymous online, and without real consequences, some act more aggressively than they would in person.

As someone who is a sore loser, I don't like to lose lol. I think that's where the toxicity comes from. This is also why I don't like playing multiplayer games that often, because I need to work on my sportsmanship. Some people take games too seriously.
