I have always liked tall women. My wife is a tall 5'-9". Not really tall but slender so she looks taller than she is in actuallity. Some people believe she is taller than I am because I am built like a fire plug. I am 5'-11". My wife has always heard comments about being tall and some have been quite hurtful. It has made me sensitive to it.

There is a young lady at church she just turned 16. She is quite attractive and wears high heels like most of the girls. In her stilletoes she is not taller than I am in dress shoes.

A teacher from the high school walked up to her and his greeting was, "You are too tall." He is about 5'-5"

I saw the reaction on her face for just a split second.

When he walked away I leaned over to her and said, "He is wrong, you are not too tall." She smiled.

Wow. I'm sure he wasn't thinking, but the worst thing you can do to a teenager is point out something that makes them "different." If she's your height wearing stilettos that puts her about 5'6" which is the high side of average. Matter of fact, that's MY height and I'm nowhere near tall (especially with 2 brothers and a nephew who are 6 foot plus!!!).

She is probably a tall 5'-7" because she is slender & leggy.

I am very leggy, and always been lean... on top of being 5'8. My only compliant s that I can't buy "normal" pants (I have to buy jeans and such that are ridiculously expensive.... no Kohls, Macys, or the like for me).

I've never had anyone make fun of me for my height though. In fact I enjoy it. I wear heels all the time that put me at easily 6ft and over. My husband is a couple inches shorter than me without heels.

I dunno, I guess I'm just more of "fuck 'em if they don't like it" kinda girl anyway ;)

My wife has found New York and Company carries a lot of reasonably priced longs. Watch for loose seams & hems but for the price they are hard to beat.

Occasionally she will find longs at JCP or Kohl's but not often. I have heard her talk about Coldwater Creek but they are rather pricey. For jeans there is a company called Sikes & Kohn's which carries all kinds of sizes. After our son was born she was determined to lose weight and for a while wore a size 6 long. Those were close to impossible to find but S&K had them.

ha yeah, try a 3/4 long! I have found the store Buckle (although sometimes they look a little young), and then brands like rock and republic and other ones sold at bloomingdales always work. like I need an excuse to go to bloomingdales :D

Not only do some individuals point out to tall people that they're tall-some folks also point out to those with a noticable physical disability. I had a friend who had a condition. And some people would point it out to her.

Yeah, like she didn't already know?!

Some people are just extremely insensitive without really realizing it. It was pretty awesome of you to make the young lady feel better about herself after he made that comment. You will get those comments no matter what though. Short or tall or in between, somebody will always say something. I'm 5'4 and while not terribly short, everyone in my family is taller than me, even my sister, and so I've gotten my share of short jokes and being called the runt and what not. It is just so important to gain self confidence and love your body regardless, because after all, there's no changing it!

We're all unique......Some of us more obviously than others. I was over 6 feet when I started high school, was hard work. Got a whole heap of grief from the sports coach because I didn't want to play basketball.

Some people just don't realize who emotionally sensitive some people are regarding their appearance. Some don't know what it's like.

Then their are others that are aware of it but just don't care.
