This could be a worse beating than Rodney King. It's hard to watch. It is extremely distressing that law enforcement can beat a cuffed prisoner the way this man was beaten and get away with it - at least so far they have. It is alleged they even beat the man in the hospital, and additional video of that may be forthcoming.

Video seems a little biased ... however ... it would have been prudent to see cooler heads prevail ...

Right there.

Disagree. We have courts judges, juries, prosecutors and defense attorneys for a reason. If we allow cops to take "justice" into their own hands, that makes us no better than Iran, China or the former Soviet Union.

Let's not derail this thread please.

This man did nothing other than be bipolar - let's get back to the topic at hand.

Seems like a power trip to me. I don't think its right either and I also disagree treating anyone that way. We have a justice system for justice not revenge.

This is a long video and I know some will not watch it all. Here is a synopsis.

1. Suspect is bipolar, driving home from an observatory.

2. Suspect was not speeding - cops mistook his vehicle for another involved in an accident.

3. Suspect, for whatever reason, does not pull over - he is 100% sober.

4. Cops use "stop sticks" to stop suspects car.

5. Cops tell suspect to get out of car, but suspect cannot because police car is so close to his driver side door.

6. Cop that is in car next to suspects driver side door climbs out of his window because cop can't open his own door.

7. Cop stands on suspects car and tasers suspect through open sun roof while suspects hands are on the steering wheel.

8. Cops holster their weapons and drag suspect from car.

9. Cops place suspect face down and beat him and cuff him.

10. Cop on top of suspects car jumps on suspect from the top of suspects car and "monkey stomps" suspect.

11. Cops continue to beat hand cuffed, face down suspect.

12. One cop breaks his hand beating suspect.

13. Suspect brought to his feet and does not resist.

14. Suspect brought out of cameral range to back of cruiser, but still within audio range.

15. Cops verbally abuse suspect, using extreme profanity.

16. Cops "hog-tie" suspect and beat him some more in the back of cruiser.

17. Cop with broken hand gets medical care when ambulance arrives, but suspect does not.

18. Suspect taken to emergency room while still hog tied in back seat of police cruiser.

19. Suspect begs hospital medical staff for help - begs to not be released back to cops that beat him.

20. Cop hears this and orders medical personnel out of room.

21. Cops beat and tase suspect again.

22. Cops take suspect - who according to medical report was not medically stable to police barracks for video deposition linked to on-duty magistrate for bail setting.

23. Suspect told to not look into camera and to answer only yes or no to magistrate.

24. Suspect sees opportunity to get help and cries out to on duty magistrate.

25. Video link "lost" by police.

26. Suspect beaten again.

27. Bail set at $200,000.

28. Suspect taken to correctional facility for holding.

29. Correctional facility officials so alarmed by condition of suspect, they bring in their own doctor to treat him so not to be accused of abuse.

30. Cover up of evidence begins.

31. Suspect has overworked public defender - could not afford an attorney.

32. Evidence withheld from defense by prosecution.

33. Suspect charged with 26 counts of various crimes.

34. 25 of the 26 charges dismissed.

35. Suspect found guilty of failure to stop for police.

36. Suspect sentenced to 1 to 4 years.

37. Suspect denied paroll for failure to take substance abuse course while incarcerated - (Not guilty of DUI)

38. Suspects paroll paperwork "lost".

39. Suspect still in jail.

40. Police investigation of itself found no wrong doing on the part of the arresting officers.

This should concern every American citizen that something like this can happen here.
