Agreed and we are not the exception but the rule. Most of us don't care but the TV & radio wonks think otherwise.

If it didn't sell they wouldn't do it.

I enjoy celeb gossip. It's entertainment. It's no different that people watching soaps, or other drama shows. You enjoy the things that made people famous (like movies certain actors were in), so you're curious about their real lives. I mean it's nothing new... "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" was a huge show in the 80s. People read about Elvis's and the Beatles's lives in the newspapers. People like to see how the other half live.

I guess it is that dividing line between being crazy as a loon and eccentric. I wish I was rich enough to be eccentric.

The same could be said for NASCAR.

To some extent everyones lives suck, so they need something to hang onto. Some worse than others.

You know just because it's put out there doesn't mean everyone's interested in them right? I really don't have any interest in the royal family and neither do most people I know So I think you saying that most Americans are obsessed with them is really off.

I mentioned the British royal family because the TV reports about them seem to go beyond just the entertainment gossip shows. Everything about them seems to be reported like it is news. What newlyweds do to me isn't newsworthy.

Anything that happens with the Royals is usually news within the Commonwealth..

Has their been a Royal that has not had nudes of them.. I seem to recall Princess Diana had a big fuss about her on this topic.. Recently Prince Harry in Las Vegas..

Part of the issue is that we see a stream of tabloid feeds coming over to America now.. In Canada we have had the streams much longer.. We are immune or at minimum more used to them. :tooth
