They were never bullied growing up? You were never a bullier?

When did picking on others become a "HATE CRIME"? If someone has a sexual preference different than yours or a skin color different than yours how does that make it a hate crime?

I was bullied a lot growing up because I was small and bookish. It was the summer before my senior year in high school before I had a real growth spurt. Suddenly I was not the smallest kid in class.

I never bullied anyone, but I never took any shit either. I minded my own business, but if you tried to get yourself in my stuff, I had no issues bringing you down a few notches.

It became a Hate Crime when people realized anytime someone different from you offends you, you can use that as a scapegoat to get them in real trouble.

In my opinion, bullying is always a hate crime. What else could it be?

I wasn't bullied growing up.

I had a little trouble with a kid when I was about 14, which I ignored quite happily until one day it got out of hand. I got suspended for 2 weeks, but he never bothered me again.

personally i hate bullies, they act all tough in schools etc... n come out in streets with their parents, holdin their lil brothers/sisters hands. I mean....wtf's happened to ur "toughness" now? lmao.

Nobody ever bullied me because they knew I wouldn't stand for it, I had a bad reputation growing up. I was never a bully except to one guy, this guy behaved like an asshole to everyone, was confrontational for no reason. One day he made the mistake of spitting at one of my good friends for no reason, so I took it upon myself to make his life hell for the next 3 years.

I did have the odd fight, but that's not necessarily bullying, it's just a fight.

I was bullied in Junior High. Then one day they threw a live firecracker ahead of me. I didn't alter my pace, went steadily thru it it blew up just as I walked over it and I kept walking. For some reason that impressed the hell out of them (mind you they were about 12 or 13 years old) and they wanted to be my friend. I never was their friend, exactly, but they never bothered me again.

I never bullied anyone before but there was a boy me and my girlfriend used to say isn't he cute every time we saw him and he was shy, he probably hated it, so looking back I suppose that was mean.

Beats me, but since i'm 18, and still in school... anybody who picks on anybody for a bullsh*t reason, I go up to and beat the crap out of them until they realize that they should just shut the hell up. =)

I have told this before:

I was a smallish kid in high school and one guy took it upon himself to relieve me of my lunch money daily. I went home and complained to my mother about it. Dad had died when I was young so my mother was both parents when I was growing up. She asked how this happened every day. I told her he was in Physical Education class. She said it is time for you to stand up for yourself. If he is bigger than you then you know what to do. Well he was bigger than me and I knew I needed an equalizer. I went to bed that night and plotted my strategy. In the meantime behind my back my mother had called the coach and given him a heads up. The next day here comes mister bully. I told him not today. I took off running. He was right behind me until I ran behind the bleachers. When I came out swinging a 2x4 about 3 or 4 feet long the coach was close by. He grabbed the board and scolded me that I might have killed the other boy. My response was to simply glare at him. He turned to the bully and said, "You might want to quit bullying him. I might not be close by next time." I never lost my lunch money to him again.

I agree. 100%. Their is a such thing as a hate crime, and it's very serious. But just because a white guy calls a black guy a dumbass or vice versa, doesn't make it instantly racially motivated.

Exactly. I have developed a dislike for people without regard for their color or sexual preference. It seems to me "hate crime" is used as a punitive measure whether real hate was involved or not.

That's an awesome way to get an assault charge. You're 18, legally you're an adult, right? You have to be more responsible than that. Don't sweat the petty stuff.

Do women get bullied much? I don't mean that to sound condescending, but I can't say I have EVER seen a woman get bullied at school.

Oh Darrell, u silly silly boy. I think Girls are worse bullys. We just had an incident here, for instance, where a basketball player was stripped of her clothes coming back from a game when she fell asleep on the team bus. Remember the movie Carrie? Well the reason it's so scary is that shit really does happen. Men never think of such evil things to do to other men as women think to do to other women. Am I right women?
