I certainly wasn't there but looking at the only economic numbers I can find, you guys looked a lot better off in 1990 than in 1980. Per capita GDP almost doubled in that time.

When you say working men, does that just mean people pissed off that she undercut the unions or what?

She made some tough decisions that had to be made in regards to some industries, such as mining. They were never going to be popular but they had to be done. Mining is not a viable economy for a developed nation.

She also had some ideas about privatisation of national services. Which I don't think anyone can defend if they've ever had to pay a British gas or BT bill.... or catch a train that's on time.

Well maybe if you lived on the breadline like I did growing up, you may understand. Being charged tax when you dont earn any money is kind of bad.

Shit dude, don't come down on me, I'm just asking. My personal interest in UK history stops at the end of WWII so I don't know a whole lot about what went on there since then...
