Anyway, I think it's clear pinning morality to a sex is a difficult and foolish task. Also, I'd love to see someone actually do something positive for their religion's reputation on gender equality in this thread, because I'm certain it can be done by a competent person. ;)

But isn't that two completely different topics?

1. Are men and women morally equal?
2. Does religion view men and women as morally equal?

They are. I think GIA's OP touched on both, and the thread eventually went from the first to the second question.

As you know, I'm a member of a Unitarian Universalist church. I believe unitarians were the first church in the USA to allow women to be ordained as ministers. And the UU church today has more female ministers than male ministers. The minister of my church is a woman.

Now how hard was that? :p
Seems women can have an interest in becoming high ranking members of their church, if they're allowed to do so. Great some churches allow it so freely.

But can she bake a pie....That is the question.

Read this out and you will find that its not because of their gender that they're more moral or immoral. Gender has nothing to do with anything. What you posted to me on that Timothy was nothing but a hierarchy that even baboons, apes and monkeys use...as well as other animals

What?

Cheating on your partner, not being a good parent, not paying back a loan from your friend, sleeping with your best friend wife/husband.........

You said amoral and then proceed to give me a list that is more what I would call immoral.
[h=2]amor·al[/h] adj \(ˌ)ā-ˈmȯr-əl, (ˌ)a-, -ˈmär-\

[h=2]Definition of AMORAL[/h]1
a : being neither moral nor immoral; specifically : lying outside the sphere to which moral judgments apply <science as such is completely amoral — W. S. Thompson> b : lacking moral sensibility <infants are amoral>

2
: being outside or beyond the moral order or a particular code of morals <amoral customs>

Are we talking amoral or immoral?

Perhaps you don't get it that women aren't allowed to be Bishops, what that says about the lack of morals of the Christian church is really nothing, you are just making something out of nothing

Can you be a moral man or church and not believe in equality?

Yes or no will do.

You will find it hard to hide your behind one word.

Give your one word reply then I will give you mine.

The last two statements make me laugh, most if not all of the women who are Catholics don't want to be priests or bishops, there is nothing in the Koran which suggests that what a woman wears is asking to be raped....silly, preposterous and totally inaccurate

Regarding Catholics, your prejudice is showing. Regarding Islam, I do admit there is a lot of male superiority cultural issues wrapped into their religion, but does it really matter? They are intertwined and the end result is the same.

I have searched for two verses quoted on that website of yours, not one of them mentions rape, so it looks like you are reading a whole load of BS on that website

It says on the evilbible website "Obviously these women were repeatedly raped. These sick bastards killed and raped an entire town and then wanted more virgins, so they hid beside the road to kidnap and rape some more. How can anyone see this as anything but evil?" I don't think that website has a shred of proof, you're either gullible, stupid or both

yes I am :thumbup

As a side note,...god did not create Adam or Eve with morals ...that came after the whole Apple deal when Eve got hold of an Ipod and shared an earbud with Adam, so in all actuality neither is more or less moral then the other becuase they were listening to rap music which everyone knows is inherently Immoral and evil
