Which item in your country, town, county, is a sacred item.....

I found out today that a cowboy hat/stetsen, is a sacred item that is worn with stories attatched to it from generations before.

So, although I can't think of anything right now, as got a load to do still so can't think, but wondered what others here hold as sacred to them and woe betide if anyone touched it/them.

I am really just wanting to know things like, the cowboy hat for example, you know, things with history that are here/worn today from travelling through the generations and why.it is that way....... :)
 
The only thing I can think of to fit that description in my family is my dad's piano.

I don't remember if it was his grandparents or not, but I do know for sure it was passed to him from his parents.

It is a grand piano, built in 1901.

I don't know if it's the cool factor, but to me it's the best sounding piano I've ever heard.
 
In our community a special item is split apple rock

My dad has the last surviving pencil with his dads' business name on it. It doesn't mean much, but his dad died tragically when he was 8-10 years old, so he didn't get to know him that well.

He also has his billfold which has various things from the 1930-1950s in it, like a drivers license, some business cards, etc from that era.

Its tragic that he didn't get to know his dad, and I never got to meet my grandpa, but we have parts of his posessions.
 
Well, in my hometown the Museum of the Albemarle was the most sacred thing....it holds all of the beginnings of my town...

In this new town in the middle of God's nowhere the most sacred thing we have is a gun warehouse the size of a damn football field! :24:
