Where were you on 9-11?

Me, I was in Vermont getting ready to pour a concrete foundation out in the middle of the sticks somewhere listening to the events unfold on a pocket size boom box. Later that night i was at the firehouse sittin in the rescue truck with a few other members of the fire department waitin for the ok to get on the road and head to New York to assist with the rescue efforts

I was actually asleep. I'd gotten a second job which was 3rd shift. I came home at 7 and went to bed, at 11ish my sister woke me up and said both the WTC towers collapsed and the pentagon was hit by a plane.

I was laying in bed; it was around a quarter to 7 in the morning. My daughter, who was almost 4 at the time, came into our room and turned on the TV. Luckily she had turned around. I have no idea why she turned on the TV that morning. But the first plane had just hit the first tower and people were screaming. I just sat there in shock as I watched for the next 45 minutes or so.
My daughter had been long gone from our room, so she didn't see any of it. It wasn't until years later that she learned about what happened that day.

I was sleeping. My boyfriend, at the time, woke me up and he was freaking out. I didn't even believe him at first. Of course it was very shocking and I sat there and watched what was going on for a while.

At school, I guess, I saw the news reports on it after school, I was at a friends house. My friends parents were watching it.

I was in first period, burning walnuts to find out how many calories they have. We didn't find out until the modified schedule people came in for second period. They came around and hooked up all the TVs so we could watch the news.

I was in the car with my friend, on our way to her apartment. Heard it on the radio, and then stayed glued to the TV once we got there.

i just got back from a flight the day before from Huntsville, Alabama because i was down there working at an another plant with some other co-workers of mine. i was at my apt and just woke up, turned on the news and thought it was a joke until i saw the other plane hit the other tower. my room mate woke up and couldnt believe it. the next day we (my co-workers whom i went to Alabama with) told our boss that we were not going to fly down there later that week. he said he didnt blame us for not wanting to and that he was gonna get a charter bus and bus us down there to Huntsville.

i was in school, science class, mr talbert. good teacher, 'cept he was in the games, football, especially clemson university vs. university of south carolina. so we never had to really worry about tests, especially when the big game was that weekend. just had to ask a good few questions, and he forgot :D

when they turned on the tv, the first one had not fallen yet. i was thinking when the first one was smoking, they could at least get 4 military choppers to the roofs, rappel down, attach some ropes to secure the top of building a bit, and at least get more time for the people inside to get out. both buildings would have supported such a plan. or something to that effect.

I tell ya what, I really wish we had gotten the ok to go down and help with the rescue efforts. As firefighters we felt that it was our civic duty to be there untill the very end and personally i wouldve went in a second

I was at home watching a video. I switched it off at the end and the telly went on to the news, it was after the first tower had fallen. I remember thinking, I'm sure there are two towers there before the horrible truth hit me!:eek

It was mid afternoon for us (not sure of the exact time, but after 2pm). I was drivig home from my studio when I heard the news on the radio. I got home and turned on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit the other tower.

Its amazing how even after all this time, Just to think about it still sends chills through me,

I watched nothing but news for two weeks, and it still just the imagry of it, It is still just sureal.

Grew up with the knowledge, that anybody who was alive when kennedy was shot, They can tell you exactly what they were doing the second it happened. It was hard to imagine something being so profound, And yet.. 50 years from now, I dont imagine anyone would forget what and where they were when the towers were hit.

This is something that is so heart-wrenching for everyone, but always much much more for those families left without those people now. No-one could ever begin to imagine just how they feel, even now.

I was on my way to pick my son up from school that day - it was around 2.45. I had popped into a shop on my way. I know the people who worked there at the time and was chatting to them.

Then a lady came in and asked if we'd heard that 2 planes had crashed in America. We asked if she knew more, but that was all she had heard too, at that point.

I mentioned that it will be on the news and probably headline news too and that I was going to switch the tv on as soon as I got home, to see if there was anything about the planes.

At that point, we were oblivious as to what horrific disaster would face us on our screens. So, when I turned on my tv once my son and I got home, well - I was in huge shock too!

I could not sink in any of it, even though I was stuck to the tv for hours and days after that - if something went through something, it comes out - the fact that those planes went in, didn't show the other side was what just totally did my head in.

I felt for all in America at that time and still do.

Freespeech.

Not to go off topic, but since Silent mentioned it, when Kennedy was shot, I was at the doctor's getting my 3-week old check-up. Nurses were crying. People turned up radios.
